Mexican stamp is bad, but U.S. rappers have it licked

SO, WHICH image of black folks does more damage to the race?
The one of Memin Pinguin, the little guy on the Mexican postage stamp who looks like he was yanked off the screen of a cartoon in the 1930s or 1940s?
Or the image of rappers 50 Cent and Tony Yayo on the cover of XXL magazine that its editors proclaimed "The Jail Issue" and dedicated to "hip-hop's incarcerated soldiers"?

Gregory Kane is no conservative, but seems to believe in Bill Cosby's philosophy. He regularly decries rappers and other blacks who cause serious harm to their own communities.
The above is just a teaser, I encourage anyone who may be interested to please read the entire column.

Graphic in today's Post, noting the various areas in DC and PG County where homicides have taken place. Blacks have a lot more serious problems than some stamps in Mexico.

Compared to the rest of the Baltimore Sun, Kane is a right winger.

It's funny. This guy thinks the NAACP is actually committed to the "advancement of colored people" instead of making as much money as they can, while doing little real work.

I've always found that to be Kane's blind spot. He seems to place way too much faith in organizations like the NAACP.

If they ever accomplished their mission, they would then have to disband!

It certainly is. Baltimore needs another daily paper to balance The Sun, like the Times does to the Post in Washington.
If Mexico issues some stamp, that should be news in Mexico, as long as there is no derogatory reference to the US.
It a Mexican stamp is offensive to Mexican blacks, the Mexican blacks can criticize the Mexican government to their hearts' content. If, on the other hand, Mexican blacks buy truckloads of the "offensive" stamp for collection purposes, they have the right to buy anything they want. It's gauche for an American self-proclaim black leader to poke his nose in internal Mexican affairs.
I don't understand the preoccupation with a Mexican stamp by Reverends Jackson and Sharpton. Are we going to worry about the postage stamps from Swaziland too?

Where was the outrage in 1998 with this?
Leadbelly was a folk singer alright, along with a murder, rapist and convict. Now you have Sharpton and Jessssssah raising can over a mexican stamp of a cartoon character?
BTW, the run of stamps this was included in was in honor Black History in the 90's. I can't understand what the whole deal is with a mexican stamp, when we have examples like this.

Good find. It's embarrassing that the US issued a stamped honoring a rapist and a murderer

".....A large, muscular man who had an explosive temper, Leadbelly had frequent run-ins with the law. The worst occurred in 1917 when he killed a man in Texas, was convicted of murder, and sentenced to a thirty-year prison term at the Huntsville Prison Farm. Six years were added to the sentence when he tried to escape. Yet Leadbelly was a shrewd prisoner. He used his musical talent to avoid harsh work details and, incredibly, was able to wrangle a pardon from Texas governor Pat Neff in 1925 after he composed and sang a tune for him pleading for freedom.
Leadbelly returned to the Lake Caddo district of Louisiana where he had been raised. But in 1930 he was arrested again, this time for assault with intent to murder."

Both times he got out of prison by using his singing ability based on the folk music that he was proficient at. That is putting it kindly. In reality, he played the part of what the steroid type was in that part of American history. He sang, danced and acted his way out of jails and chain gangs.
So....... Let's make a stamp. Now, let's see who gave the nod to this one?

Personally, I think a "Speedy Gonzales" stamp is in order here.

I would only use the Sun for the purposes you suggest if I did not have to pay for it. I will not put money in those left-wing-nuts' pockets if I can avoid it. I suppose I am contributing to the hit count on the Web site, but that does not come directly out of my pocket anyway.
A couple of weeks ago, Mrs. Reb got mad at me when someone in front of the grocery store offered us a free Sun paper and I responded, "No, thanks. We don't have a bird." She did not want the paper either, but also did not want me making snide remarks to the fool handing them out.

Blacks have a lot more serious problems than some stamps in Mexico. People are getting shot in the streets, and they do nothing about it.But print some stamps in another country no less and there is time for action. It is insane.

Graphic in today's Post, noting the various areas in DC and PG County where homicides have taken place. Blacks have a lot more serious problems than some stamps in Mexico.Well, the murder rate in DC is down from the high of 485 in 1993. However, the murder rate in PG County have been steadily increasing.
To: WakeUpAndVote
maybe because the "wouldn't do..." incident some time ago. I keep thinking that without the dimwitted commentary of Fox noone had given two cents about the stamp of memin pinguin, I am bored of arguing, just one last picture:
