Truckin' through the mall leads to arrest Last Updated Tue, 05 Jul 2005 09:38:40 EDT CBC News Police in Edmonton have laid charges after a man drove his truck through a sliding door into the city's biggest shopping mall, calmly drove around for five minutes, then left through another exit.
The bizarre incident began at around 5 p.m. Sunday, when staff at the West Edmonton Mall heard a loud noise, they told local newspapers.
They looked up to see a blue Dodge Dakota wending its way through the Sears department store. The driver was wearing sunglasses, and a large dog was sitting at his side in the vehicle's front seat.
The pair left through another set of doors.
Both entrances were damaged in the incident.
Police stopped a truck in downtown Edmonton a short time later. The 35-year-old driver has been charged with dangerous driving and mischief, as well as driving a vehicle without a valid registration and insurance.
Animal control officials took control of the dog found in the truck.
Isn't pot legal in Canada? ;)
"The driver was wearing sunglasses, and a large dog was sitting at his side in the vehicle's front seat..."
The chances are - YOU MIGHT BE A REDNECK !!
Are they sure the dog wasn't driving? Maybe he was dog and disorderly.
You think?
C'mon guys, he might have been blind.
Dog
Sunglasses
Driving where he wasn't supposed to
Makes sense to me.
I couldn't help but laugh at this, though it's not a good thing to do and he could've hurt someone.
My company just got bought by a much larger one and I will probably lose my job, and ever since I found that out I've been fighting the urge to ride my motorcycle in through the front doors and around the lobby.
Sounds like this guy didnt' have as much self control as I do (so far!).

They took his dog???? Must be animal cruelty to take your dog to the mall and not stop at Petco.
Who hasn't wanted to do that?
Don't forget the clown mask, rainbow fright wig, and rubber chicken stapled to the shoulder of your leather jacket.
I have a friend who works for the phone company in Southern California and he actually DID that right after he bought his (then) new Honda 750' way back when. Drove in to the side entrance of a phone company CO and rode around for a while before being stopped by a manager. He got off with a stern finger-waggling.
Of course he used to come in stoned and drunk and sleep on the job regularly when working at night and he never brushed his teeth or took a shower and that was no problem either... This was mid to late 70's when computers and ESS were first being introduced at the CO's.
"Lots of space in this mall..."
Hold muh beer, and watch this.
Ping!
Don't look at me. I haven't been in the mall in ages.
They must do things differently in Canada, if only the entrances were damaged.
Any Sears (or most other department stores) I've been in stateside have so much 'sale' or 'seasonal' crap down the middle of the main "wide" aisles that my wife & I have to single file past people on the same side of the said crap stacked in said aisles. Think, 'four lane divided highway', for people, when it was designed as an 8 lane freeway.
The narrower, 'two lane feeder road' aisles' are naturally about half the width as the main aisles...unless they have skinnier stack of sale crap in the middle of them. They were designed as 3 or 4 laners,
Then, there are the 'one way alleys' between the departmental racks & shelves.
The architech designs spaciousness; the managing marketer clogs it up.
