Mountain Brook High School graduate Natalee Holloway went missing May 30 during a senior trip to Aruba.

Considered yourself fortunate. All are not so. And don't put yourself in a position to say oops I talked too soon.
As far as traveling with SS or FBI agents the majority of us do not. Whats your point?
"Hopefully, there are donated funds available"
I read or heard that there was already $40k donated for this purpose as of at least a week ago.....
Well why did they finger the security guards and do nothing to help them get out of jail when they were arrested, until they (3 musketeers)were proven to be liars? Obviously they lied about events that night and tried to place blame elsewhere. They obstructed the investigation and gained time to get their stories together and destroy evidence. They are guilty of ethical and moral wrongs if not crimes. By their lies they brought the microscope to focus on them and their actions. Blame them not the media. They knew something and tried to hide it. They are not innocent.
"shirt color, hand sign, and dragon logo...."
Blue on JVDS?
I mistook you for kcvl, sorry. Since you both were addressing the same point to me, I forgot who said what. The fact remains I was asking if Beth was calling for citizens/countries to take matters in their own hands. BTW, I just heard what she said firsthand and not from another FReeper. And indeed what she says does cross the line. Unless she has incontrovertible proof that the brothers were indeed accessories to murder (PROOF, which we haven't heard so far, not hunches or gut feelings), she is wrong to call them criminals publicly, tie them to a murder, and ask entire nations to not allow them entry. Her grief and anxiety canoot be the driving force in this case, sorry. Again, let me emphasize her feeling are perfectly understandable, but they are HER feelings and should not be what everyone else acts on. This case needs proof, not accusations
People have got to make responsible decisions.
I saw an interview done by Greta of an American-sounding guy that (if memory serves) owned or managed the only cell in aruba......he seemed entirely credible to me.....I forget exactly.how he and the twittys got into contact almost immediately after their arrival on aruba......he was also involved with the activities re: JVDS/PVDS and their locations/statements during the timeframe of 24 hours after Natalee went missing......maybe there is a transcript available on gretablog?......I watched this interview live, about ten days ago.
My point is, when I travel to a place where I am unfamiliar with the people and their laws, I tend to be even more cautious than when I am in familiar surroundings. It's just good, smart policy. I would NEVER, EVER go anywhere with a local and would not rub elbows in a bar with strangers unless I had a male escort. Anything less than that is just not smart.
YIPEEE!!!
(I knew she'd be going back today!)
Paul van der Sloot's Changing Story
CHARLES CROES, TALKED TO DUTCH SUSPECT: A major friend of mine called me up. He was working with Natalee's mom to help them find Natalee.
VAN SUSTEREN: Why would he call you? What is your occupation that would be a reason he would call you?
C. CROES: Well, I have a sail rental company. And there was apparently a phone call made. And he was calling me betting or hoping that the phone call was made from one of our phones, and so that's why he called me.
VAN SUSTEREN: About what time did he call you?
C. CROES: He called me at 11:30.
VAN SUSTEREN: What did he say to you?
C. CROES: He told me that he needed my help. And I asked him what it was about. And he told me that it had to do something with a cell phone. And I didn't relate it to anything but work at that point.
And then he said, "There is a possibility that a phone call was made using one of our phones." And I said, "OK." And he said, "It's very, very important." I said, "Fine," and I asked him to go into further details, and he did. And then I made arrangements to go see him.
VAN SUSTEREN:After you and Beth listened to that phone call several times and hung up with the person in the states, what did you do next?
C. CROES: After that, we spoke a while. And then we left that location with the intention of going to the Holiday Inn to continue meeting. On the way there, a young man and I were sitting in my car. And on the way there, instinctively, I wanted to go to drive off, pull over to the cabana area, just to look to see if perhaps she was there.
yep....thats it......tks for posting/linking it.
The bad decision opened up the door for all the evil to come in. I don't want the evil to slide at all, but a little public discussion of the foolishness of these young girl in Aruba party trips would be helpful and perhaps save the next young life.
one little correction is in order.....
"C. CROES: Well, I have a sail rental company."
should read:
C. CROES: Well, I have a CELL rental company.
Glad to know it, thanks.
Good post! The inept investigation of this case is what has caused all the problems. Jorans clothes that he wore that night weren't even checked for forensics. Was it 10 days before any real investigation started on the 3? By that time, any evidence was surely gone...just like Natalee.
Although I agree, there are limitations to what we are allowed to say on these threads.
Please, let's not rehash what Natalee 'should' have done/not done. She's the victim here.
Witnesses said she got in a cab. Depaks dark window tinted car, looked like another cab. Witnesses said she drank responsibly. She was taking some kind of medication, so I assume the witnesses are correct on that, too.
There is nothing -no witnesses to support your theory.
"You can only be abused if you allow yourself to be abused. I have travelled all over the Caribbean and have never been abused. Women, actually everyone, should be responsible for their own safety and use their heads. We don't get to travel with SS or FBI agents taking care of us. If you can't accept that level of responsibility, then stay home."
I feel that when I was their age, I was just as naive and trusting. Sure, it was a very long time ago, but I think coming from loving families and nice suuroundings, you just aren't street smart. You trust.
So very sad that they all, including Natalee, have learned such a cruel lesson.
This was posted, on SM, by a female classmate of Natalee's:
"The chaperones that were there did all the head counts, did all of the checking rooms, and monitored everything that they possibly could. The ratio of us to them though was us winning by a mile. We were out to all hours of the night. We had this false sense that the island was totally safe. That is the impression that everyone who lives there gives you. They try to make you feel like its all about you and your time there. Night life there is so up beat and exciting.
We all were a few sheets to the wind at C&Cs, all of us who were there, and that is our faults and we live with that guilt now every day. No one in our group here saw her leave the bar, but had we not been intoxicated I know we all would have used much better judgement and said something.
We were dispersed all over the place in Aruba. The beach, the bar, the pool, the hotel
if a person was not with one group it was thought that Oh they must be with another. Another bad call on our part
