That poor little boy...:( And now Shasta is alone. I haven't followed this too closely (it's a little too much for me) so I don't know, but are there any other relatives that have or will take her in?
She's with her father. The man killed when she was kidnapped was the mother's boyfriend.
Her father has her now.
Her natural father is with her now. He was divorced from Shasta's mother, I believe.
Her dad's still alive, and I think she has an older brother.
Her dad had joint custody of her. I suspect that she will be in hospital for some time though. She has a lot to deal with.
