She could have been better off watching tear-jerker melodrama on TV.

Wonder what the title of the movie was.

A suicide at a movie theater? A very similar thing happened when I went to see "Police Academy".

Maybe she was trying to emulate "Scream."

FWIW, South Korea has been putting out a few really good horror movies lately. "Phone" and "The Tale of Two Sisters" were quite good.

"The Brotherhood of War" was an excellent war movie, staunchly anti-commie, and pro-U.S. The battle scenes were very well done despite a $13 million dollar budget.

Re #9

Actually, it is not exactly anti-commie, it is revisionist. Maybe American version obscured that angle.

These days, every studio in S. Korea does a horror movie in summer. I am afraid that they are beating it to death. They all want to corner all teenagers on summer vacation.:-)

Did you ever see JSA. I love the line where the South Korean General says "There are two kinds of people in this world. Communists and those that kill communists. I kill communists."

My wife loves horror movies (I'm not particularly fond of them). The Japanese, IMHO, are the best when it comes to horror movies "Audition", "The Ring", and "The Grudge" scared the crap outta me.

I believe it stands for Joint Security Area"-it's a thriller/murder mystery that takes place in the Korean DMZ-very good.

I saw my father-in-law's copy and ordered my own from Amazon back in March-still don't have it so I'm going to try and buy it elsewhere once I get a chance.

Looks like the American version is out later this month. Asian versions appear inexpensive, but of course require an all region player.

This seems to be a good place for that, maybe.

I admire this amateur site. Asian movie aficionado, in spades.

Asian Cinema Drifter. Hundreds of reviews.

South Korea's making some great horror films, too. Check out a movie called "A Tale of Two Sisters"!
