Senator demands Rove answer questions about leak
BY MICHAEL MCAULIFF
New York Daily News
WASHINGTON - (KRT) - It's time for President Bush's political mastermind to step up and say whether he leaked the name of a CIA agent whose cover was blown in the press, Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., said Sunday.
Schumer's demand came Sunday after reports surfaced Saturday that White House deputy chief of staff Karl Rove spoke to a Time magazine reporter about agent Valerie Plame.
Rove's lawyer Robert Luskin told Newsweek that Rove never revealed classified information or told reporter Matthew Cooper that Plame, the wife of an ambassador who was critical of the administration, worked for the CIA.
Knowingly revealing the identity of an undercover agent is a federal crime, and an independent investigator is conducting a criminal probe.
Schumer said a statement of Rove's innocence from Luskin isn't good enough.
"We've heard it from his lawyer, but it would be nice to hear it directly from Mr. Rove that he didn't leak the identity of Valerie Plame, and that he didn't direct anyone else to do such a dastardly thing," said Schumer.
Plame was outed after her husband, Joseph Wilson, discredited Bush administration claims that then-Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein was trying to buy the raw materials to refine uranium from Niger. Her CIA status was made public by columnist Robert Novak.
Citing the ongoing probe, the White House said Sunday that it would not comment beyond Luskin's remarks.

And I guess since the accuser is a Dem nutjob, he doesn't need anything that resembles proof. He just has to make the accusation.

The dems can't think their way out of a paper bag. They're still using that worn old playbook that's brought them and the country nothing but grief, but it's all they have. It's as if they'll never change in the face of their insolence, but they expect others too come around.
It's the only thing I can figure in this current political atmosphere. They are so arrogant, it's not even an issue.

I was half listening to the TV this morning, but I thought I heard that Newsweek released phone records indicating Rove spoke to one or both reporters, and that Rove's lawyer released a statement regarding the phone calls.
Did I hear right?

Chuck, turn around and ask the senior Senator from Ma. why he waited 10 hours before reporting that he drove his car off a bridge with a woman trapped inside.
Then ask him why he had the wherewithall to consult with his attorneys but never bothered to call for help to save her life.
If this doesn't seem important to you, if you aren't troubled by it, then you have no business posing any other question to anyone.
Capice?

Who does Upchuck Schuuummmeeeeer think he is - making demands as though he is Jesse Jettison or Al Charelton?
To: hflynn
hehe I know....
But Chuckie doesn't. But I think he is in for a big surprise as the Hillary machine cranks up and destroys everyone in her path on the Democratic side.

I believe Rove's lawyer has already said he spoke to thew reporters. Rove as also released them from any pledge of confidentiality regarding what he said to them. This was done some time ago.
To: randita
So what would it hurt Rove to say it. Then he goes about his business looking like the reasonable one, while the Rats continue to have their kitten.

Anybody see "American Dad" last night? The dad wanted to become deacon of his church (he was having a competition w/his neighbor to get the position), and in comes Karl Rove to help him achieve his goal. Dressed like some kind of satanist or grim reaper. It was hysterical! Poking fun at the MSM for portraying Rove as some kind of evil genius.

This is just Schumer playing to his base then.
And the MSM will only cover the story with a left leaning slant.
One reason why the Dems repeatedly get away with lying - the press willingly covers for them.

The advantage democrat politicians have over us is that their supporters are so stupid they'll believe anything.

The dems are playing checkers while Rove is playing chess. I expect this will be another round of the dems getting all worked up just before the cigar explodes in their mouth.
Remember the stolen 2000 election? Then there was the pesky recounts that all went to GWB.
Remember Enron? The dems were already to nail GEB until the investigation team found that Enron was all wrapped up with the Clinton administration too.
Remember when nothing was getting accomplished in Afghanistan? The dems were at a frenzy then Ashcroft calmly read a 26 page list of accomplishments. The dems got smacked.
Remember the infamous 16 words? The dems thought they had him there. The dems got zippo there too.
Remember the Rather memo? Then the FR and others picked through the fake memos and Rather eventually lost his job. another bang in their faces
Remember attacks on Delay. Then we find that the dems got free trips from the same guy.
Remember the DSM? The dems even had phony hearings. Chairman Conyers had another 15 minutes in the sun. Then we find out that the memos were untraceable copies. The originals were destroyed or was it the copies of the originals.....
The left can't avoid stepping in the cow pie.

I have news for Senator Schumer:
And you wonder why Democrats are so annoying nowadays.
To: Pikamax
"Demand"?????? Maybe if you "asked" you might get an answer, altho Rove doesn't answer to you Chucky baby.....

I'd like former president clinton to personally answer the questions concerning his alleged rape of Juanita Broaddrick. Maybe a joint Rove/clinton press conference? I'd tune in.
