CNN) -- One member of a U.S. special operations reconnaissance team missing in Afghanistan since Tuesday has been rescued, a U.S. official speaking on condition of anonymity told CNN.
The team member "evaded the enemy and was successfully rescued by U.S. forces," the official said.
No other details are being released because the search for other missing members of the team continues, the official said.
A military helicopter crashed Tuesday while bringing reinforcements to the team, killing all 16 service members aboard.
The U.S. military believes the chopper was downed by a rocket-propelled grenade.
It is the worst single-day death toll for U.S. forces since the Afghan war began nearly four years ago.

GREAT NEWS!!!
great news, at least for the one ... looking forward to hearing mroe.
Nice. Let's get the other guys back, too.
Thank God! Prayers for the rescue of the others.
When is Hollywierd going to do THIS story?
Answer: In 20 years.
Praise God!
Excellent news!
PTL and pass the ammo!
Did they split up to give themselves a better chance than a "group" effort....Leaving the terrorists with a "which way did they go?" option. Wonder if they could send GPS signals to each other?
It might be good to upgrade this to breaking news.
Ping.
BUMP!
America, F_ _ _ Yeah!
You'd think since this is Special Ops that they would have every strategy possible to avoid capture. Maybe the others were killed in the crash itself? The information on this has been, blessedly, sparse. I don't want the world to know thru CNN where they are and what they are doing. We can celebrate AFTER all survivors are returned safely.
Debrief and from that info -- make those hills miserable.
The warriors "missing" are not from the down chopper - They are from the SEAL Recon Team that the QRF (chopper) were going in to recover -
I saw it in the theatre... and saw the uncensored dvd version the other night.
The puppet pee and poo sex scenes they edited back in were hilarious!
(waiting for someone to tell me I'm a sinner who will burn in hell...)
