Devvy Kidd is, of course, correct. Legislators read very little of the substance of these treaties. Legislators merely listen to promises with the word "FREE" connected to them and vote "YES." And American conservatives so-called are now people who believe in economic free-for-all with no moral or patriotic restraint at all, and people like Pat Buchannan become their most-hated.

I think the CFR and Trilateral commission are conspiracies on the face of it.
Also clearly more interested in world movements than the USA. Surprising how many so-called conservatives are members.

Oh dear. The hydra headed monster of the Trilateral Commission, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the Federal Reserve, are plotting 24/7 to turn me into a subject of a Communist world goverment, and I have to sleep 8 hours and day, and take weekends off. It is such an unfair contest. Maybe we should turn our military over to the Chicoms, so they can protect us. The Chicoms are against a one world government too.

Global free trade will force the poor of the rich countries to subsidize the rich in poor countries. What GATT means is that our national wealth, accumulated over centuries, will be transferred from a developed country like Britain to developing countries like Communist China, now building its first oceangoing navy in 500 years.Mr. Goldsmith (and the author) must have missed Adam Smith's classic work, The Wealth of the Nations. It made some really good arguments against merchantilism.

The trilateralists ruined my lawn! Its true, they had a secret meeting with those slobs, the Bilderbergers and the Knights of Templar. The bastards did donuts on my lawn, and peed all over my flowerbed.
It had to be them, because it was dark, and I couldn't make out their faces, but I know a conspiracy when I see one, there was a black helicopter too! It was black, because it was dark.
Devvy Kidd is a nut, another silly tax protester.

What do we expect the success of western capitalism to provide? More success everywhere we bring it? What drove western capitalism's initial success? In any case, shouldn't we prepare ourselves for the possibility that our economic system may not thrive globally, or that if its political control were externalized and centralized, that it could be manipulated or dominated by evil powers?
The idea that western economics is universal is appealing, but there's an element of hubris in believing we can extend our ideals across the planet without fear of backlash.
No matter how successful we seem to be, we should always protect our own sovereignty in the Anglosphere and here in America. Trust but verify. It's the only way to survive.
It's not just the "Trilateral Commission" that doesn't get it. Look around. Who among you truly fears the limits of America's righteousness? Dig deep into your hearts. Is our way so universal that we may dare to endanger it because we believe it cannot be stopped?
Our downfall could be lurking in the belief that our ideas are too universal to challenge.

The CFR is just like any other liberal group, including the DNC. Of course they hate America and dream of global socialism. They all do. But the CFR is just one voice of many. I highly doubt that Bush shares their goal of global government.
We keep hearing how trade agreements are sucking out jobs, but our unemployment rate is down and standard of living is up since 1990. CFR is bad news, but so is the Howard Dean, and both are increasingly irrelevant. If the CFR were so powerful, the EU constitution would have passed in a landslide and President Kerry would be moving his office to the UN.

I've wondered about how GATT would restrict our ability to tariff the hell out of China if we needed to stop them.

China owns the Panama Canal and all our manufacturing equipment,.
Does that mean that we are now set back 200 years in producing the items needed to survive and fight a world war?
