LIVE 8 -Live Thread
MTV/VH1 | 7-2-05 | my favorite headache

Posted on 07/02/2005 9:39:24 AM PDT by My Favorite Headache

Well...we are 37 minutes into the supposed "global concert of a lifetime" and MTV has managed to show 12 minutes of commercials for reality programming, interrupted 3 performances, and have shown a highlights package from the UK with the biggest names of the day already performing.

Yep. MTV has found a way to not show music on a day where music is all around them. So away with the Live 8 thread....

"Poor Elton John, looks like he may have eaten enough for 10 African children today!"

Poor Elton looks like he may have tucked in a few too many TUCKS today...

I'm enjoying it in the UK. BBC1 is useful for something - no adverts. Enjoyed U2 and McCartney, and can't wait for Pink Floyd. What was Bill Gates up to? I was hoping he'd start ranting about Windows G8 in the shops soon.

Above one of the stages is a scrolling marquee. One of the messages reads, "We Don't Want Your Money." At least the first Live Aid solicited donations from willing individuals. This one seeks to rob the taxpayers as a whole! Bob Geldof is quite the thief

If the USA falls for this garbage I'm gonna be pissed!

Gotta love the commercials. Nothing like being constantly reminded about how life is hell for most of the world to make me truly enjoy this Independance Day weekend! Now I think I'll go grill a steak, eat till I pass out and ponder all of the suffering and injustice in the world.

This is so sad. It's probably time for Elton to break out the Daffy Duck costume instead of this...Time to call a emergency Guild live session into order!

I don't know about you Americans, but for me wathing Tim McGraw and Faith Hill perform live at the Circus Maximus in Rome was awsome. I love Faith's new single.

OK, I know I am pathetic...

Cheers.

Nothing says 'serious awareness raising charity function' like Anna Nicole Smith braless in a blouse composed of pink sequins.

Sad news, the line-up did not show a Culture Club or Wham! reunion.

I am bummed out and feel cheated.

If Roger Waters can swallow his pride and join Pink Floyd on stage for a rich dictators awareness concert why can't George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley do it. Ditto for Culture Club.
