In a short version and not verbatim:
They will no longer approve the import certificates for "non-sporting" rifle barrels and receivers. This will stop new approvals of kits in the way that most have been coming in. The barrels will not be allowed, so this means that in the future the barrels will be made in the USA = big price increases. In some cases of rare MG Kits, the set up and mfg of a US barrel will not be feasible thus stopping most of the demand. AK guns and kits will go up if this has the affect. Companys were warned that they can not replace there kits today for what they are selling them for. Meaning what is already here cannot be brought back over unless someone is willing to make the American made barrel for the kit. Here we go again.
Damn right!
Your FR name made me giggle, btw!
Folks, the answer is so simple and we see it every day
All we have to do is require each person crossing the border from Mexico bring at least one of these gun parts with them.
The result will be positive any way you look at it.
1. The supply of gun parts will increase, or ...
2. The BATF will stop the flow of persons illegally INVADING our country.
I am sick of these administrative rulings having the force of law. Its a recipe, IMHO, for diaster whenver that type of latitude is given. Either it is legal or it isn't...and the Constitution is very clear to anyone reading it with any common sense and who doesn't have some kind of anti-liberty agenda...that it is legal.
Sorry,
GHWB did the NON-SPORTING ban... nice wasn't it!
I wish I had one party I could count on... I'm not sure it is even the NRA...
These DO NOT have the rule of law IF the majority do not accept it!!!
If you violate it, they will come with guns and overwhelming force and enforce it. Unless we are ready for a revoultion over this issue...right now...you will not stop it unless we get different people elected who will take the offending laws off the books and tell these appointed officials to back way the heck off, or fire them and then appoint people who will.
Unfortunately, that's the reality.
I recall some sporting semi-autos being banned back then, too - specifically H&K's walnut-stocked hunting rifles (which shared little with that company's military-pattern firearms). Or perhaps H&K pulled the plug on those imports from their end, since the majority of their product line was unwelcome - I can't recall how it all went down.
FWIW, there was a rumored change in these import regs (aimed at parts kits, particularly barrels) during Clinton's last six months in office. It was never actually implemented, as far as I can tell. You're right; where this issue is concerned, neither political party can be trusted to respect our rights.
And no influential Senator or Congressman wants to hoist themselves onto the spit to lead the charge to fix things. Can you imagine the political fallout for a Senator who demanded to repeal GCA68 and NFA?
The Democratic party has drifted into the radical left and nearly every member of that party fits the description.
The Republican party is composed of some radical leftists, some liberals, a lot of moderates and a very few conservatives.
There are no hard core conservatives that I am aware of in the Republican party.
It's time. If not now, when?
The eventual goal is to make it so confusing to legally own a firearm that the normal person will just think it is illegal.
My local dealed just informed me of this tonight.
No more importation of battlefield rifles.
Best get my druganov now!
