Only according to him. He is not recognised by any mainstream Baptist church. His group had a demonstration at a Baptist church here a year ago. His reason was that the coach of the women's basketball team for a major, local university worshipped there; his reasoning was that all female coaches are "that way." The guy is a moron.
No arguement there. But the man is just as much a Christian as he is a Democrat. I don't know anyone in that party that doesn't distance themselves from Phred and his Phlock. Every Democrat of my acquaintance is just as disgusted with him as every Republican I know is. Trying to hang Phelps on them is ridiculous.

Unlike "Roman Catholic" the term "Baptist" is not trade-name protected. Anybody can call themselves a "Baptist" or their organization a "Baptist" Church.
99.9% of Baptists want absolutely nothing to do with this jerk.
I've known a lot of Baptists in my life and Phelps is NOT A BAPTIST.
