Oh, sorry! It never occurred to me that assignment of the case meant that. I knew the chief justice could choose the majority opinion writers.

Yes, my wife and I bought a pizza shop, trying to help put the kids through school. I'd work 8 at the department (got in the detective bureau in August last year) and then 8 at the shop. Went to the hospital once, I figure I was working too much.

We're trying to sell the shop, it's just too much for us.

You are from Caliporina aren't you?

How do you come to ask such an irrelvant question in response to her observation, "Shout all they want. We'll be damn lucky if Gonzalez is a replacement for O'Connor. Because O'Connor is a swing voter, this could be big fight right here."

You seem to be looking to pick a fight. Do so elsewhere.

McConnell has said publicly he would support Roe v Wade.

What I believe he said was that, as a judge on a Court of Appeals, he had to obey precedent set by the Supremes, and Roe was such a precedent. All inferior-court judges are bound to do so by their oath. But he would be free to review Roe were he ON the Supreme Court, and I don't believe he's made any contrary commitments (nor would it have been proper for anyone to ask him to make any).

That would be a great pick -- I will remember that you are the one that brought him up first! :)

I was talking Conservative Republicans not some of our more moderate Republicans. If you are a Conservative Republican then you are going to be pro-life and pro-tax cuts are you are not much of a Conservative. I think you missed the word Conservative. BTW, McCain is pro-life as far as I know and I am no supporter of his.

Say you are the leader of nine persons. You get to choose who decides where to have dinner. Do you think that the person to whom you appoint to make this decision might either favorably or adversely affect others in the group?

Well, sure. But you'd never talk me into sushi. LOL!

I guess I just think of the decisions they make as fairly clear cut, ideologically. The only ones that are not predictable are O'Connor and Kennedy and that's because they're not faithful to one set of ideals.

this is the perfect time for an Hispanic nominee. If Alito is the best choice, send him up - and let's get some 527s running ads on Univision and Telemundo in support of him.

I thought Alito was an Italian.

Sorry I didn't answer your post before now...I was driving home...

Did you see Warner in the Senate or at the presser?

One thing I didn't post before that he said in the Senate, was the because of all the animosity, and the NEED for the Gang of 14, to make the compromise agreement, he didn't want to hear anything about anyone USING the nuke option...

Which I took to be a warning for the REPUBLICAN leadership...

I don't know, maybe I just took it wrong, but I just didn't hear, conservative talking points, but "lets all get along" talking points,,,,which isn't gonna cut it on THIS nomination...

I was listening to Mark Levin on Sean Hannity's show coming home, and also Newt Gingrich, and they both said that the importance of getting a constitutionalist judge is SO IMPORTANT, that it can't be overestimated....

Unfortunately, I think the Senators are just gonna play partisan games...

Okay, I just saw on Fox, a replay of some of what Warner said during the presser today about the nuke option...

I that speech, he said the nuke option is still on the table, which is GOOD...

So, I have decided to wait and get the transcript from Warner's speech on the floor of the Senate, because I THOUGHT I heard him say that he didn't want the nuke option to come into play...and the way he said it, I took it as a warning to the REPUBLICANS....maybe it was a warning to dems instead...

From now on, I will wait to say more until after I read the speech...then I will get back with you and apologize if I hear him wrong,....okay?

I don't WANT to smear anyone on information I misunderstood or didn't hear all of...

"This is going to be a huge nasty fight?"

The earlier filibuster threat was a warm-up. If it isn't a big fight, that would be a bad sign for conservatives.

And I'm so mad...I can't find an article anywhere that even mentions Warner's remarks. Don't forget to ping me if you get that transcript.

when I caught Warner, he wasn't on the senate floor, he was holding a press thing, and like I said, I missed the first part. Listen, we all make mistakes, but at least ours are honest, not like the MSM, agenda driven.
