Those Bastards...how dare they?!!! Don't they know they are all supposed to be racists?
Then, when I went to the full text, I noticed the headline was different; so, I again searched and found nothing using "Republican" as my search word.
Thanks for pointing that out, and the admin mod might want to lock this thread.
if the RATS stop playing the black and white game they would come one step closer to having one foot in the grave
I do not think J.C. is ready for prime time. Put him in as VP material first and groom him up.
"stood before a nearly all-white Republican crowd "
Wonder how come the Slimes didn't mention that they were Christians.
Staubach era Cowboys fan here...rooting for Swan, #88.
(and let me tell you...that's not easy...but politics over football!)
This can't be true! Don't you know Pubs want to hold minorites down? Don't you know the Pubs are all rich, white guys? (sarcasm). *~*
Look for JC Watts to throw his hat in the ring in Oklahoma for Governor against the accidental incumbant, Brad "Wake me for Lunch" Henry.
I'd much rather see Ken Blackwell oust Mike DeWine next year and go to the Senate. Jim Petro could run for Governor.
Go Swanney! I grew up in the Burgh, bleed black and gold and have always thought that Lynn Swann was the "classiest" player that the Steelers have ever produced. Notice that I did not say "best" player but he is certainly right up top there. When I saw Lynn Swann as a delegate at the Republican National Convention in 2004 I was so proud. If I still lived in Pa, I would vote for him in a second. All that I have to say is Ed Rendells' sorry ass is gone. :) Gooooooo Steelers!!
Why, because we're racists?
But Ms. Brazile also said several black Republicans could be formidable opponents because they could appeal not only to some black voters, but also to the party's conservative white base.
Apparently Donna has a bit of a different opinion than the NYT's. And she'd be correct. We'll vote for black candidates, Hispanics, Asian, Indian, white it does not matter. The key points are that they are charismatic, articulate, intelligent, energetic, competitive, apparently conservative from what I've heard of their positions and appear qualified. All important when running for office. Why wouldn't we support them?
Donna's one of the few people that has a head on her shoulders in this Party. She understands the meaning of the targeted swing state campaign in 2004 that raised the vote among blacks to GOP at 16% in Ohio. The Republican Party is going to take that campaign and move it nationally since it was so successful. We appoint minorities NOT because of affirmative action but because they are qualified. No one has been more inclusive on the merits than G.W.B. G.W.B. has Ken out there reaching to the black community in a non election year, never done in my memory. IMO, '06 is going to be a turning point for minorities seeking elective office. I don't mean we'll suddenly receive 50% of the vote of the black community, nor pedicting wins for anyone, but change isn't always obvious immediately.
{[[Donna's one of the few people that has a head on her shoulders in this Party.}}
Donna "We not gonna let the whiteboys win" Brazille is a scumbag racist bitch skank. She was also overheard at a party calling George Bush a "white cracker". Any white person that had said the same things about blacks that Donna the skank said about white people would have been fired, and purged from the ranks of the Republican party as a national disgrace. Instead this nasty skank is held up as some kind of hero in the mind of liberals and Democrats. She is lucky that she cannot hear the names that I am calling her everytime that I see her nasty face on tv.
Well, if Mehlman was there it wouldn't have been that way...( :-D
I believe? your intention is to correlate the fact she is a racist to the comment about the NYT's that I made? If so, you miss the mark.
I didn't state one word about the character of the woman. The difference between the NYT's and Donna, is that Donna recognizes as a political strategist that this is about more than whether conservative "whites" will vote for "blacks".
Donna is one of the few that was not dismissive of the 2004 GOP gains in swing states. The only states where a new campaign strategy reaching through churches and black radio etc..succeeded in nearly doubling the percentage we had in 2000. Donna is cognizant that there has been a shift in the attitude of the Republican Party outreach to the black community, largely due to the President's wishes. She is aware of the top qualified minority candidates being recruited for high elective office in crucial states. she is aware of the discontent of the black community rising as they witness the GOP outreach, and continue to be taken for granted by the Democrats that socially and on school vouchers are completely out of step.
Say as you will about her character, that isn't important. That someone with her head in the game views a threat coming from the Republican party politically, it says more than anything I ever could.

As a racist she has no credibility about ANYTHING, not even elections.
That, or they might start turning their party around. It is just one apple in the bushel of things they are doing to destroy their party, but they need to start somewhere.
I've been posting on this forum for almost 2 years. I wish I could say this is the first time that the NY Times had second thoughts about an article's headline. They have done it more than a few times and changed titles.
Granted, they had a good reason to change it from their original title with this article. Other times, there's no apparent reason, at least to me, for the change.
