A Seguin mother home alone with her two young children was terrorized by a burglar for several hours until she fought back.
Jennifer Cooper told News 4 WOAI the break-in happened shortly after she had finished watching a Spurs game and turned off the lights to go to bed. She heard her house alarm.
It wasn't my husband because there's no way he'd leave the Spurs game early, Cooper said. She thought she heard an intruder.
I got up as quickly as I could, locked my door and then someone was pounding, trying to get in, Cooper said.
Cooper had her two young sons with her.
I just told the boys, I'm going to get the gun. Hopefully, he's going to leave or I'll have to shoot him, Cooper said.
Cooper and her children hid in a bedroom while the intruder roamed through her house for more than two hours. That was when she had enough.
I was not able to talk him away, so I just shot the gun, Cooper said. I warned him.
Cooper had never fired a gun before and was not ready for the recoil. The bullet went through the door and landed in the ceiling. The intruder finally left.
So far, no one has been arrested. Cooper said the intruder did not steal anything.
Guadalupe County investigators said the burglar may have been someone who was drunk or wandered into the wrong house.

I'll bet the boys have been Good as Gold, since they heard Mama say that, LOL!
Glad no one in the family was hurt. As for the intruder, drunk or not, I don't give a rip what could've happened to him.

Well. . .too bad for that guy. . .not really. Being drunk enough to wander into another person's home is grounds for being shot dead. He got a undeserved reprieve from Darwin's Law.
She is to be applauded for having the courage to fire the gun when she had never used one before. Her husband needs to take her to the range.
Did her husband ever come home from the Spurs game...
I wasn't there, so I really don't know. ;)
My wife is from England, where they aren't allowed to have guns. Shortly after we married, I sent her and my Makarov 9mm off to the local gun safety course taught by members of our sherriffs department.
When she returned home with a silouette target that was missing all of the paper in the '10' ring, and sporting two "eyes" and a "nose", I was pretty sure she could shoot. I went out and bought her a .357 magnum, and she put her first round through the 10.
After 2 hours I would have helped him load up his car. (I'm cranky when I don't get my beauty sleep!)
She needs to get the gun out of the house if she isn't willing to learn how to use it. She's lucky she didn't hit her own foot or one of the kids.
Note to MR Cooper: Take her to the range and teach her "two to the torso and one to the head". She (and the kids) may not be so lucky next time.

Good for you, for taking her, and good for her for working at becoming proficient with the guns.
Amen!
That home invader better be glad he wasn't facing my wife!
I let her shoot my P7 for the TX CHL qual, while I shot my (5" overall length) backup piece. I dropped two points (of 250) doing rapid-fire head shots. She stuck to business, concentrated on center of mass -- and shot within 10 points of me.
Been thinking of taping her target to the front door. That should make any would be invader re-consider his plans for the evening! ;-)
I hope she takes this opportunity to get to the range and learn how to use that thing. Ignorance and firearms don't mix.
She has a lot of patience to wait 2 hours.
LOL!! That would probably do it. :) Criminals don't like to tangle with women who have guns. They just never know what we're going to do.
After my recent training, it's: 1) Get my gun and be ready to shoot, 2) call 911 and keep the cell with me, 3) don't go looking for the intruder; hunker down and stay put until the cops nab that bugger.
VERY glad to read the mom and kids are ok!
