1985 was a very perplexing, transitional year.I gave up trying to be a dairy farmer, getting rid of the cows much to my fathers disapproval.
I went to work at a local newspaper filling in for down routes, running "shorts" and answering the telephone.I hated it but it taught me to be a responsible employee which I continue to be.
All things come around though and now in addition to my regular job I once again farm my land with my cousin, growing hay which is sold for horses and cattle through the New England area.

In a lot of ways it was the worst year I can remember, having to face and accept failure while now realising that it led me to where I am now, which is reasonably successful.
Sometimes having to swallow your pride is the best thing that you can do,even though it is still distasteful to think about it 20 years later.

Welcome to the Canteen, carlr. Thanks for sharing what sure was a transitional year, and glad to see that things worked out well for you because of your perseverance.
