MUNSTER | Leaders in the Lake County Democratic Party are turning to God to help them solve the problems of Northwest Indiana.

Lake County Democratic Chairman Rudy Clay, joined by Sheriff Rogelio "Roy" Dominguez and Lake County Prosecutor Bernard Carter, visited the Family Christian Center and asked more than 1,000 people at Wednesday night's service to pray for them. They said they want the guidance of prayer to help them make the right decisions for the county and reunite the Democratic Party.

The Rev. Steve Munsey said Dominguez was the first to approach him about coming to the church.

"I said, 'Sheriff, I can't endorse the Democratic Party, but I can pray for you,'" Munsey told the congregation.

Munsey said he was doubtful the three men would really come to the church.

"This is a very humbling thing for you to do," Munsey told them.

Dominguez said someone asked him if he wanted to be like a Republican because he was going to the Family Christian Center.

"I said, 'Why is it that you believe that we as Democrats don't worship God? Why can't it be that both parties worship God?'" Dominguez said.

Dominguez said the region's Democratic community has had some difficulties, and its leaders want to bring the party back to its glory days of helping people. He told the congregation he hasn't held a fund-raiser since he took office because he doesn't want people associating his office with a quest for money.

"Tonight we're not asking for money. What we want is prayer; we want your support," Dominguez told the crowd.

Clay also took time to set the congregation straight on his beliefs. He told them not all Democrats believe in same-sex marriage, an issue that many Republicans oppose.

"I don't believe a man should marry a man or a woman should marry a woman," Clay said. "I believe in Adam and Eve."

I would love for them to find God, no doubt, but I think they should find a brain, have a soul, and get some heart...first.

I think the Wizard of Oz is out of business, so, I guess...church isn't a bad start.

Hmmm, well when we get right with God, we will begin to bring our thoughts and actions in accordance with His. Can't be a bad thing

I'm already suspicious of folks who see God as a last resort to achieve their own ends. Something tells me He doesn't appreciate being an afterthought....nor is He big on acting the rubber-stamp.

Democrats Praying: Dear God, please help me to achieve my agenda. Please help me to get what I want. Please help me to convince others that I am right. Please give me a new car...make that a Mercedes Benz.

Christians Praying: Dear God. You are almighty. Thank you for the grace you have granted all of us. Please bless those who love you and protect them. Please give us the understanding to accept your will. I love you and serve you with humility.

I'll pray to the Lord on behalf of them as well... praying that their Jesus-hating, abortion-loving, libertine leaders will fail miserably.

New Living Translation.

"What [doth it] profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?" - King James Vesion

Wow! You really should reconsider your cold-heartedness. Maybe his motives are impure, but Christians are still tasked to pray for their enemies (he may not even really be your enemy). I know you've read that one somewhere in that NKJV of yours.

Of course there are democrats who have Christian beliefs...

and of course there are millions of people who say that Christianity is whatever they believe it to be...

Dem prayer: "Thank you, Lord, that I'm not a conservative, or a heterosexual, pregnant (any more)."

MY TIME ON MY KNEES IS BETTER SPENT ON MY CHRISTIAN FAMILY.

GODSPEED AND LET GOD SORT THE REST OF THEM OUT!

Luke 3:15
Now as the people were in expectation, and all reasoned in their hearts about John, whether he was the Christ or not,

Luke 3:16
John answered, saying to all, "I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Luke 3:17
"His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather the wheat into His barn; but the chaff He will burn with unquenchable fire."

Luke 3:18
And with many other exhortations he preached to the people.
(NKJV)

Luke 12:49
"I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!

Luke 12:50
"But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am till it is accomplished!

Luke 12:51
"Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division.
(NKJV)

Matthew 10:31
"Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Matthew 10:32
"Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 10:33
"But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 10:34
"Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.
(NKJV)

I HAVE HAD BRETHREN STAY HERE AT THE HOUSE THE LORD GAVE ME.
I WILL NOT PRAY FOR ABORTIONISTS OR THE PARTY THAT WANTS TO RUIN OUR CHILDRENS MINDS.

Yes, moderately so. I would place myself more in the Wesleyan-Arminian camp. That being said, there are many moderate Calvinists I like as well. To me it doesn't really matter. I've been round and round about it most of my Christian walk and don't really get to hung up on it anymore. I just follow Christ.

Oh, the NLT. As a student of Greek, that translation sets my teeth on edge.

But if it brings people to Jesus . . .
