The poll was taken immediately after the speech, and the 323 adults interviewed were 50 percent Republican, 23 percent Democratic and 27 percent independent. The margin of error was plus or minus 6 percentage points.
I bet they wouldn't of given this breakdown if it had been 50% Democrat, and 23% republican.

"Many Americans did not watch the speech. Those who did were 2-to-1 Republican, so most were arguably already in the president's camp." He'd better not walk around in the rain, without an umbrella; he might drown.

"Many Americans did not watch the speech. Those who did were 2-to-1 Republican, so most were arguably already in the president's camp." This tells me that the "anti-war" morons on the Left really don't care about Iraq. They are just out to bash America, President Bush and the U.S. military.

Dear CNN,
How many are "Many Americans" who did NOT watch the speech? Does your poll quantify that? How do you know that those who did were 2-1 Republican?
How many watch CNN anymore?

Don't ya love a nation that is learning to discern "Truth" and "Reality" by looking at poll results?

"Many Americans did not watch the speech. Those who did were 2-to-1 Republican" That's because democrats prefer to stay in the dark so they can continue to shoot off their mouths out of ignorance.

I would like to see
1) how many were registered voters
2) how many were qualified independents and not left-leaning or right-leaning independents
3) the follow-up poll of all of them tomorrow asking them what they thought, again, having slept on it or heard about the speech.

There is a lot to be learned from history and what a president actually says in a speech. The important questiona are why did he say what he said and what does he hope to accomplilsh with his speech.
Click here for the 'tator take on the Democrats Speech Defect
I would urge all of us to remember that the President is student of history. He works very hard to do things that work while avoiding the mistakes of the past.

23 percent Democratic and 27 percent independent. The margin of error was plus or minus 6 percentage points. Another 28 percent said they were "somewhat positive" about what they heard, and 26 percent said they had a "negative" reaction. Long story short, most indies found the speech positive. Mission accomplished.

Of course the president has a clear goal. That goal hasn't changed since we went in. We're closer to that goal, but we not there yet and it's amazing to me that the dems keep saying "he's not saying anything new". Well DUH!
When you're on a 5 mile walk and people ask you at the two mile mark if you're there yet, you can only answer no, it's a 5 mile walk. When they ask you again at the 3 mile mark, the answer is the same, and when they ask you again at the 3.5 mile mark, the answer is still the same. The answer is going to remain the same until you reach the goal.
