Fairchild Mourns Fallen Soldier

Fairchild
Jun 27, 2005

Spc. Charles Kaufman was killed in Iraq on Sunday.

A local soldier has been killed in Iraq. Specialist Charles Kaufman was killed when a roadside bomb went off near his humvee on Sunday.

Specialist Kaufman was from Fairchild. He was 20 years old. "I'm in denial. I don't even really believe it happened. I had Charles in kindergarten and Charles was a typical little boy. He was always there for people. He would help no matter what," said Arlene Abrahamson from Fairchild.

Kaufman's family says he felt his job was worthwhile after seeing how children in Iraq live. Kaufman was named after his grandfather who passed away last week. His funeral was held on Saturday.

We are going to have to wait ten years to be able properly to mourn these heroes. The trouble with mourning them now is that the Tim Russerts of the world want to exploit their deaths by emphasizing how many are fallen.

Well, I'm sorry - the thing that is actually important is the comrades of the fallen who are still living - and who, while grieving their lost friends, are still accomplishing the mission for which these honored dead gave "the last full measure of devotion."

Time enough, when the mission is completed, to pay proper respect for the fallen in the context of the achievement they died to fulfill. Until then, publicly reading out the names of all the casualties of Iraq and Afghanistan is nothing more than the behavior of a quisling. An effort, no to honor the dead, but to say they died in vain. To say in fact that the dead were fools. In hopes of causing the mission to fail, so that they will embarrass and defeat the president's political party.

Those who emphasize the price we are paying and downplay the prospects for an enormous success for the principles of our nation do so for their own political aggrandizement. We now return you to a proper memorial of a hero. </rant>

I agree

Simple phrases like “one more falls” or “Add one to the wall” are now take to mean an negative political statement.

Just like Ca. and a number of other places the lefties get a hold on. Can take something great and make it perverse.
