And … if Hillary drops out after Pirro has built up a head of steam, it could give the GOP a Senate seat in the most unlikely of places — Clinton’s back yard.

Ha, Ha, Ha,,,...And that's all that matters...This democrat is running as a republican and she WILL pick up the republican vote...What a joke...

No I am telling you our country is in deep trouble and if it does not turn around soon, it will be lost.

He broadcast his show from the Billy Graham Crusade in New York, interviewed Graham, and had been going on about what a great man he is. Sounds like he's just another Republican that is being used by Hillary, since he let himself be so tied to Graham last week, right before Graham had his love fest with the Clintons!!

I agree - but I think the fix is in for Hillary already. When you're a flaming lib but you have the Bush family and Billy Graham on your side you gotta like your chances.

BEAUTY AND THE HILDABEAST
also: THE JEANINE PIRRO--HILLARY CLINTON VIRTUAL MATCHUP

But not all Republicans are helping Hillary. In New York state, Westchester County District Attorney Jeanine Pirro seems to be getting closer to running against her in the 2006 race for the Senate. Pirro has to be Hillary's worst nightmare. She is a pro-choice woman who even backs Medicaid funding for abortion and a supporter of gun control, affirmative action and gay civil unions.

But Pirro is no Democrat. She strongly supports the Patriot Act, making the Bush tax cuts permanent and the diversion of Social Security tax revenues into private investment accounts. She has a tough-on-crime image from her constant appearances on New York City television, with a particular focus on family-values issues such as pedophilia and Internet pornography.

Hillary has always thrived off right-wing challengers who flunk the litmus tests imposed by New York's liberal electorate. But, in Pirro, she has met someone whom she can't browbeat over abortion or the usual Democratic issues.

Clinton is especially vulnerable to Pirro because Hillary can't pledge to serve out her term if she is reelected. Polls show that her refusal to do so strikes New Yorkers very badly. Having extended the welcome mat to this carpetbagger and taken her at her word that she wanted to be part of the Big Apple, they feel they are being treated like doormats in reelecting someone who will obviously begin to miss votes and focus all her energy on running for president as soon as she is reelected.

If Pirro attracts the massive national funding she is likely to get, she can wage a very strong race against Hillary. My bet is that Clinton thinks the better of it and drops out of the race if Pirro comes on strong. Why should she risk the presidency -- and have to spend $20 million -- just to get reelected to her old job?

And … if Hillary drops out after Pirro has built up a head of steam, it could give the GOP a Senate seat in the most unlikely of places -- Clinton's back yard.

Why would NY select the upstart crook in Pirro when they already have the "real thing"?

"But Pirro is no Democrat."

Perhaps not, but that doesn't, by default (or any other measurement) make her a Republican!

At best, she sounds like a spoiler, another Ross Perot of sorts who simply runs to poison the well for all....

I would call Jeanine a republican. perhaps it's her lack of conservative credentials that aren't to your liking (although I would call her VERY conservative on crime and security matters AND on abuse of women...)

It is precisely this mix of credentials that makes her hillary's worst nightmare.

What is the goal here? It isn't to get a conservative senator from ny--that's a virtual impossibility. it's to end the political career of this ruthless, unqualified, very dangerous... person.

Two issues, and I would like to address them separately.

I would be the first to admit that, from my perspective out here on the west coast, the nuances of state politics are only a matter of general interest. to that end, I would prefer to elect conservatives. It doesn't make much sense to me to elect someone who doesn't reflect my interests & sensibilities just because she has an "R" behind her name (R.Reagan's 80% of something being better than nothing at all notwithstanding).

If New York is your state, and you are comfortable with the compromises involved, then I say, "Full speed ahead!".

This is separate from the issue of marginalizing the Hildebeast. I could die a happy man if I were to watch her sentencing to federal prison. I share your depiction of her as a dangerous person. I lament the profound stupidity of the people who elected her to public office.

Plz help me connect the dots - how would electing this person derail the Hildebeast machine?
