A split Supreme Court struck down Ten Commandments displays in courthouses Monday, ruling that two exhibits in Kentucky cross the line between separation of church and state because they promote a religious message.
The 5-4 decision was the first of two seeking to mediate the bitter culture war over religion's place in public life. In it, the court declined to prohibit all displays in court buildings or on government property. Justices left legal wiggle room, saying that some displays like their own courtroom frieze would be permissible if they're portrayed neutrally in order to honor the nation's legal history.

Congradulations, you have left no dought that you are a fool, had you kept your mouth closed people would only be wondering.
That's a LOOOOOOONG way from ESTABLISHING a state religion :(
Separation of Church and State allows the State to assume pre-eminence in society. Also, the 8th Commandment contains the source of current belief in private property rights. Property rights now exist only in case law and are the proper sphere of ethics and the the judicial system. That is the reality.
What is exactly the difference between a Ten Commandments monument at a courthouse and the display at the Supreme Court building? These five justices are clowns.
The judiciary must be fixed and the Republicans must do it or lose power.
Not really. I recall many years ago a Jewish acquaintance of mine commenting that the worst anti-semites were - JINOs.
If she's not a JINO (a la Trotsky, for example), I'll eat my hat. You can't be an observant Jew and trample on most of the Ten Commandments in your public life.
Just like you can't be a Catholic or Protestant and do likewise (a la Ted Kennedy, CINO extraordianaire).
So you are another militia member with a small penis and a lot of personal insecurities?
I didn't endorse the movement or claim that it was "Christian". I simply made a prediction that it will come back given the recent rulings.
I just thought your comment was strange and left you a bit, shall we say, "open"...?
There can't be any more O'Connors (Alberto Gonzaleses). The Republicans should literally be fighting for their jobs on this issue. Either fix the judiciary or lose your jobs.
Well that's it they will have to remove all statues of Justice from courthouses all over the country. That common statue of a lady with a blindfold holding scales was a Roman diety therefore we are promoting the religion of Zeus over others.
If you use other religious symbols common to our society like the ones we got from the Romans it shows how stupid this arguement that displays cause harm.
How long before the SCOTUS requires 'In God We Trust' to be removed from our money?
I suggest you resume taking your meds, insulting people will not make them sympathic to you cause or point of view.
How sad...... This whole thing seems so sad..... I mean it says right on our money " In God we Trust"
I don't care about or want to have anything to do with people who advocate or threaten violence to get their symbols accepted. We have more than 200 years of democratic tradition and the ballot box open to us. We dont need a bunch of militia fruitcakes running around bombing courthouses. Its people who are lazy, stupid or have little creativity who instantly revert to illegal behavior.
First we kill all the lawyers""
...And I'm not quoting Shakespeare on that one!
Found where Souter stole the quote from
Epperson v. Arkansas, 1968
"The First Amendment mandates governmental neutrality between religion and religion, and between religion and nonreligion"
The misdirected idea refers to the idea that not being part of a religion....is a religion. Hence, nonreligion.
HOWEVER, It ignores decision made in the Pre 1940s Supreme Court.
IT ALSO IGNORES THAT FACT THAT HANGING THE 10 COMMANDMENTS ON THE WALL DOES NOT MAKE THEM A LAW, NOR DOES IS MAKE THEM AND ENDORSED STATE RELIGON.
IN NO WAY DOES IT "ORDER" ANYONE TO FOLLOW THE 10 COMMANDMENTS OR FOLLOW A RELIGION.
Then there is the issue that a previous Supreme Court decision decided that the 10 Commandments were a historical document since they are shown throughout history in many faiths and non faith teachings.
MEANING THE DECISION ABOUT KETUCKY IS WRONG.
Your rant demonstrates my point, have a nice day.
