Whereas I agree that Reagan was a great American, this list also included Elvis and Oprah in the top 10. What was the comment on FOX? That this is what happens when Discovery puts Matt Lauer in charge?

Elvis and Oprah in the top 10

An obese drug addict who died on the toilet was in the top ten? (speaking of Elvis, not Oprah)

It was announced on the Today Show too (amazingly enough). But not without some snide comments.

Katie said it was an obvious partisan choice. Matt said it was because he died recently.

Democrats believe the choice should have been Monica for her um great service during the Clinton Years.

Cheers to Ronald Reagan!

"Partisan?" What a twit. Actually, the answer to the question (Greatest American?) is simple - George Washington. Without him there would have been no America.

I suppose it could really be argued that Washington and Lincoln were really the greatest Americans, but I voted for Pres. Reagan -- in part, because I wanted to piss our Liberal culture off.

He's certainly gets my vote. I have my postage stamp pin, wear it every day. I can't help but smile every time I think of him. Truly an inspiration to me, in many ways. Thank you for giving us so much, Mr. President!

I love Ronald Reagan but in terms of being "the Greatest American", he's not even in the same league as George Washington.

Washington's contributions as American commander in the Revolutionary War, as President of the Constitutional Convention and finally as President of the United States, far surpassed what anyone did later on in our country's history.

He isn't called the "Father of our Country" for nothing.
