When United States Supreme Court justices are unable to comprehend the difference in meaning between the words 'use' (as in 'public use') and 'benefit' (as in 'public benefit'), I fear for the future of the nation. 'Public benefit' is a far, far broader notion than 'public use'. But 'public benefit' is now what we must understand the Fifth Amendment to be talking about, according to the SCOTUS Gang of Five.
