A hostage held alongside Mr Wood [recently released Aussie ex-hostage] has hired bounty hunters to track down his former captors, promising to eliminate them one by one. Ulf Hjertstrom, a Swede who was held for several weeks with Mr Wood, was freed by his kidnappers on May 30. He has since said he shared information with US and Iraqi troops that led to the Australian's release. Now, he wants to find those responsible. "I have now put some people to work to find these bastards," he said yesterday. "I invested about $50,000 so far and we will get them one by one."

This paragraph is buried in SMH's article on Wood which contains few new details about that Aussie's experience.
I've composed my own headline for this more interesting story.

I rather like that idea. You know people hate you when your former captives hire mercenaries to hunt you down.
Looks like not all the Viking blood in Sweden has been socialized out.

Once this thing is over we have to create a foundation that finances tracking down any and all terrorists in Iraq or anywhere else who have ever killed or injured Americans, or even participated in a group which has ever done so.
I envision it as something like the Simon Wiesenthal Center.
The history of this sort of thing over the long run has been that we really can't trust our government to do this very necessary job.
A good name for it would be the Ulf Hjertstrom Center.

Sound like Dirty Harry. Let's see, Dirty Ulf? I don't know, just doesn't sound right
Sounds like my kinda guy though. Too bad he doesn't own property in the U.S. Wonder how he'd of handled the SC justices involved in the land grab last week.

I like the idea. I think the idea of a terrorist bounty fund is a great one.

Good.
Odds are we won't have to go far from FR to find folks interested in this concept.
Now, for a bank where we can keep our business safe from the prying eyes of IRS? If somebody out there has a Swiss ancestor or two, and a kid just about to turn 18, odds are the kid can, if he or she acts fast, claim dual citizenship in Switzerland and thereby acquire rights to a secret account the Swiss don't show to IRS.
I missed my chance a long time ago, but it's better than working through a Bahamian bank, and sure as the devil we don't want to work with an Arab bank!

My kind of Swede....
Skal!Skal....The Scandinavian/Swedish drinking toast (skal) has a rather macabre background; it originally meant skull. The word has come down from a custom practiced by the warlike and terrorist Vikings who used the dried-out skulls of their enemies as drinking mugs, with the evident advantage that the mug held a large quantity of mead and could be easily replaced.

Sounds cool, man. Will the bounty hunters shoot the captors or behead them?

Hmmm ... most Swedes would have tucked a Koran under their arm and called for peace and understanding.

Liberals should like this. They`re flipping out as it is over Gitmo, but this? Oh my, those poor terrorists! Will nobody leave them alone and let them terrorize in peace?? Dick Durbin is really going to get mad.

Capitalism at its best. The Iraqi scum with a price on their head will be toast. Osama Bin Lying has his own money, the average Iraqi Saddam doesn't.
