Sheriff calls deputy's shooting 'barbarism'
San Diego Union ^ | June 26, 2005 | Robert Jablon

– Los Angeles County's sheriff yesterday said the killing of a deputy during a gang investigation shows that gang violence in Southern California is out of control. "This is barbarism. This is ignorance. This is something that doesn't fit the human dignity," Sheriff Lee Baca said at a news conference. He also criticized "incompetent families that don't know what to do with their errant children."

Baca called on state and local officials to provide more funding for anti-gang efforts, both by law enforcement and through social efforts such as providing better education and job opportunities to disadvantaged youth

Orozco, who was covered in tattoos, including a pair of horns on is forehead, was a local gang member and a career criminal. He had prior arrests or convictions for assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, burglary, as well as for gun and drug crimes, Baca said. He produced a 5-foot-long computer printout that he said was Orozco's rap sheet.

Orozco was on parole but had not contacted his parole officer since January, Cooley said. He also was a suspect in a gang-related shooting in Hawaiian Gardens on Monday that wounded a person, authorities said.

A bureaucrat's solution to everything is "raise my budget"

In the past, the thing that kept gangs from shooting cops was the certainty that there would be a serious and determined effort to find the shooter, with a multitude of gang members winding up shot while "resisting arrest". Shooting a cop was an act of war against the police force (as distinct from the response when a mere civilian is shot)

Since Rodney King, the LAPD and LASD have been neutered by political correctness

Until our system of justice is willing to kill murderers we will continue to see this escalation. When the elites run out of armed guards to protect them nothing will change.

Evil runs rampant and government would rather fleece the citizens and make them subjects without hope.

I demand a time table for when American law-enforcement will pull out of LA, and I want to see the plan to win the PEACE!

I for one want to know how my tax dollars are being spent in this war on drugs/gangs!

A bullet between the horns of that criminal might go a long way to solving the problem.

One word here:

Immigration.

Until that issue is fixed, a million "programs" won't be able to put an end to these problems.

No word on the perp's immigration status? Did his lawbreaking career in the US start with crossing the border?

But wait, he's a "LOCAL" gang member, so he can't possibly be an illegal immigrant! /sarcasm off

So far, so good.

Baca called on state and local officials to provide more funding

NO.

... for anti-gang efforts, both by law enforcement and through social efforts such as providing better education and job opportunities to disadvantaged youth

The job opportunities are going to the disadvantaged illegal aliens whose errant children are the ones ending up in gangs.

And the cycle continues....

The solution is much simpler and cheaper. Shoot all confirmed gang members on sight.

Have you been to a private shooting range lately? So many Americans are really tired of this crap, believe me!

Until America shuts down their borders, it is only a matter of time before another terrorist attacks and kills many innocent Americans, and there will be great hell to pay, the likes this generation has never seen anywhere on the face of this earth!
