The British special forces of about 120 men will be based in the southern province of Kandahar ahead of a 5,500-strong infantry battle group expected to be sent early next year. There are currently 1,100 British troops in AfghanistanAm I just reading into this or is this prep for an excursion to the west of Afghanistan aka Iran ?

You know I had heard of this move a while ago......and couldn't figure out why. I think the electios will be done....so that can't be it.

This is actually a "normal" rotation of NATO forces. It's the UK's turn to provide large numbers. And they rarely deploy without SAS to act as their lightning rod.
These guys are good as they come, and it's good to see them deployed too the south.
