Cruise, Lauer argue on 'Today'

'Worlds' star: 'You don't know the history of psychiatry. I do' NEW YORK (AP) -- Let the cynics talk. Tom Cruise is in love -- and he just can't restrain himself.

"You know what? There's always cynics. There always has been. There always will be," said Cruise, who hasn't been shy about displaying his affection for "Batman Begins" actress Katie Holmes. "I have never worried ... about what other people think and what other people say."

Cruise, 42, and Holmes, 26, went public with their romance in April, smooching and posing for photographers in Rome. They recently became engaged.

Many have doubted the romance -- the words "publicity stunt" have rained down on the couple as Cruise has promoted his new film, "War of the Worlds," directed by Steven Spielberg, which opens on June 29.

When Harrison Ford started dating Calista Flockhart they didn't feel the need to declare their love every time they were on TV.

Can you believe his attack on Ritalin?

We must maintain order in our society.

If a six year old child (I prefer young man) cannot sit quietly and copy the dictionary for six hours a day, Ritalin is the solution.

The next step is Thorazine.

Katie Holmes is loaded (with cash that is). She can buy her way up to OT III. This is what stops the layperson because it can cost from $20,000 to $300,000 or so (I have heard no definite number). I don't know how long it takes (and really don't want to research it), but if she doesn't believe in the aliens now, she will eventually. Rumor has it that Tom Cruise is OT VI or so (though some sites say that the OT naming is changed above OT III).

"Did you see how he acted when water was thrown in his face, he was acting like Joe the Philosopher practicing Scientology moves on what makes a person a jerk"

That was a piece of work wasn't it? What was really telling is when Cruise says "I was answering your questions and you do that?" First of all, get over yourself Xenu boy...Like you do the world a favor by answering some questions???

What part of "They are NOTHING without the idiots that drool all over them" don't they get??

Their fans are as idiotic as they are.

"Scientology is a little strange."

A LITTLE? Try a LOT. And somewhat unsavory, too:

So some psychiatrists are a-holes or weirdos. Doesn't necessarily mean ALL psychiatrists are bad or that psychiatry doesn't have some value or some usefulness.

"but if she doesn't believe in the aliens now, she will eventually."

Unless her "conversion" is really just an act to make the PR stunt look good.

Hannity is as condescending as Cruise.

So we're all stupid and vitamins and exercise will cure everything.

Hannity knows all. Just ask him.

Bill Clinton declared Scientology a real religion and gave them tax free status.

Germany has banned them and considers them a dangerous cult.

Well, not to worry. Had Hannity's radio show on while I was preparing dinner. Sean agrees with Cruise.

You're misrepresenting Hannity's response. While he agrees with Cruise that medications are often overprescribed, especially for example Ritalin for schoolchildren, he does *NOT* agree with the rest of Cruise's moonbattery on this subject, and in fact he played portions of Cruise's "medical lecture" and (rightly) ridiculed it. Nor does Hannity agree with the degree to which Cruise takes the "overprescribed" issue, since Cruise feels that *all* drug treatments are quackery and that all maladies can be corrected with "vitamins" and other "natural" treatments.

Now if you want an example of a radio talk host who *does* agree with Cruise's rant 100%, I just heard Michael Savage say exactly that on his radio show.

I agree with the over-reliance on drugs as well. I have two friends who went on Prozac in their mid-thirties to help them over romantic disappointments. Well, ten years later they're still on them, they've gained considerable weight and have NO libido. On the other hand, they have no romance problems. It makes me angry, what shrinks do to people, giving them drugs to "help".

Once, in my mid-twenties, I was really unhappy and saw a shrink. Well, he talked with me for a bit, then gave me a prescription for Halcion, a sleep medication I guess. Anyway, I took it one night and swore never again. I wasn't crazy, but I knew that if I took that stuff I would be. I threw it away and never went back to him.

Technically, I think that this is known as a catfight. Katie and Ann Coulter had one, too.

I'm sorry, maybe I missed something, but isn't Tom Cruise an actor? Seems, he took up medicine without anyone knowing. I wonder if he realizes he needs a license to practice, not just a lot of money.

And Tom Cruise is a high paid actor.

This is what makes Hollywood think that they are entitled to tell the rest of the country how they should live.
