I do agree that there are sometimes when, for a short time, drugs are helpful. Also, for some defined conditions ( manic/depressive, schizophrenia, etc.), long term drug therapy may be needed.

But, the over-prescription of drugs for ordinary sadness and stress is something that I think is particularly bad with women. Frequently, the prescription doesn't even come from a psychiatrist-- the treating shrink may be only a psychologist, while the prescribing doctor is her gynecologist. It's really a messed up system for messing women up, and it goes on for years-- often what should otherwise have been some of the best years of her life. It's irresponsible, and yet the women themselves don't see it that way-- they think the doctor is always right and that they really need the drugs. Like I said, it makes me angry.

Well he has the same mentality as her's I don't belive this is a adult love relationship, what they have in common is not career aspirations or sex IMHO it's about a giddiance and attention seeking Tom Cruise is getting so he can preach and have a forum for Scientology that he wants to ram down the country's throat he is there Poster Child.

I'm sorry, maybe I missed something, but isn't Tom Cruise an actor? Seems, he took up medicine without anyone knowing. I wonder if he realizes he needs a license to practice, not just a lot of money.

Well, ever since that stay at the Holiday Inn Express.....

Because I have had bout's of Hormonal Imbalance which gave me a hosts of unbearable symptoms The Doctor wanted to put me on Prozac and Ambien for sleep I declined and found my own way in a natural and healthy sense to battle my condition, so the Pharmecutical Industry wasn''t able to make any money off of me!

"Kids use to be able to play and play and play until they Konked out! Kids have energy to burn they don't burn it up they are dignosed as ADDH Attention Decifit..."

If you tell me that the kid is running all over the classroom while all the other students are sitting still and studying, my suspicion of ADHD goes much higher.

I doubt any doctor, pediatrician, family doc, psychiatrist, will diagnose a child who is having fun in the park as ADHD.

True, but I believe that Scientology opposes even those.

I believe that only a psychiatrist should prescribe drugs, but how do you know that the psychologist or gynecologist in question may not have at least some psychiatric knowledge?

Scientology is like a cult off shoot of AA or NA or CA
I have friends in these programs and they are so over the top they won't even take an aspirin cold medicine *NADA* because maybe that might lead them into Alcohol or Drug Addiction again..

However, there are some times when drugs are necessary for psychiatric problems.

Do you think there is such a thing as a hyperactive 6 year old?

What drugs are best for them?

What percentage of our children are candidates for these drugs?

10%, 30%, 80%?

Scientology isn't a religion. It teaches the individual is equipped with the tools to overcome difficulties we face. With proper direction, these tools are accessible and we can move on to lead the rest of our lives.
Given the choice between meeting a Scientologist or a Meth-head in a dark alley, I'll take the Scientologist every time. Contrary to the belief of many here, a human being can live a successful life without God in it. As a matter a fact, my disgust and opposition to abortion exists separately from my belief in God.
On the topic of Germany and Scientology: I refuse to sit here, silently while the great German nation and it's people are being accused of intolerance, arrest and incarceration of an individual simply because of his or her religious background.

NO drugs for Hyperactivity get them into sports give them chores let them burn some energy they will quiet down, I will agree some kids have learning problems and that will make them disruptive, but if there is no problems they need constructive ways to burn up there energy.

Thanks. Some opinions that I formed long ago remain, but the underpinnings have faded. Yes, Oliver Stone does explain a lot. If pressed I'd have probably recalled that he was involved. That guy is such a waste. Any movie he has ever worked on has turned to fecal matter.

Yeah, I'm going through that hormonal thing myself-- mine is sort of pre-menopause, so my cycle is a mess and I go through periods when I barely sleep. But I've just dealt with it so far by lowering my expectations of what I'll get accomplished during the day (my kids are soon to be all in college, so they need very little from me). I nap when I can, pray a lot, and yup, that glass or two of wine sure does help!

I'm 42 and have known enough women with looks. Looks are fine, but looks without brains AND personality are a waste.

Sounds a lot like my ex-wife. When she went from a light brown to a full blond, she also went full stupid! Left me and our 2 sons to screw around with some loser she met at work. 2 years later, he dies in a car wreck, and since then, she's been using her workplace as her own dating service, sleeping with anything that's male and walks upright without dragging it's knuckles....(Currently with a 28 year old guy, our sons are 24 and 20. They are not amused...)

I doubt it. I believe in the goodness of psychiatry, like all medical specialties, if performed properly.
