Would be nice if our President could get in a few more conservative justices instead

Course, it would be nice for the President (or someone) to say SOMETHING (ANYTHING!) about this decision.

But, I guess all my hard work to elect George W. Bush has gone to waste for lots of reasons. But, I hope he enjoyed watching the baseball game last night while every city attorney is furiously planning the "urban renewal" efforts all over the country.

Can the President provide an executive order? Can Congress do anything to help protect our individual property rights?

One would have thought that the 5th Amendment was enough, but apparently it wasn't enough.

And, I don't want to hear about state vs. federal, because all of the "local" entities are all in favor of it...SEE THIS POST.

Maybe someone who is sober in this administration --Dick Cheney where are you?-- will come out against this?

Maybe? [crickets] Guess not.

The fact of the matter is that politicians do tend to pander to those who give them the most money. This is true of Dems, Republicans, maybe some of the other parties as well. I'm not naieve enough to think that any politico really cares about us average joes and janes most of the time.

Sometimes, a rather huge outcry might persuade politicians to remember who else helped elect them...and who can turn them out in the next election. That might make having a petition like this, coupled with effective use of the media, advantageous.

I believe there have been some stirrings in the legislative branch (and maybe in a few states as well) to come up with a law that would protect property rights...one that the justices would have to uphold. I don't know if that will really happen, but I guess it's worth a shot.
