The worst bill you have never heard of

Senator Daniel Akaka (D-HI) has introduced a bill called the Native Hawaiian Government Reorganization Act of 2005, S.147. Akaka wants to extend the government's policy of self-governance and self-determination to Native Hawaiians. He, and fellow Hawaiian Senator Inouye intend to do this by creating a race-based and racially separate government for Native Hawaiians. Under S. 147 Native Hawaiians would be under the federal Indian law system and would be designated as a "tribe." This new race-based government would have jurisdiction over 20 percent of Hawaii's citizens as well as 400,000 citizens nationwide.

This would be the first time in our nation's history that we have created an extra-constitutional race-based government out of a group of American citizens. Moreover, were this bill to become law, this new race-based government would be allowed to deny its constituents the protections afforded by the 1st, 5th and 14th Constitutional Amendments because they would not apply to the new "tribal government."

This bill will likely receive scheduled Senate floor time before the chamber leaves for its August recess. Proponents of the legislation have been forcefully advancing the bill for 6 years now and during the last appropriations cycle they were able to secure a deal with Senate Leadership to assure floor time before this August is over. This fight will be won or lost on the Senate floor and it is currently unclear where the votes are.

gee who would have ever geussed that a dimocrat would come up with a bill like this. Its so appropriate that his last name is aKAKA cause he sure is full of it.

the real scary part is there absolutley is no telling how the schizophrenic supreme court would rule on the constitutionality of this law.

The Hawaiian Sovereignty Activists are in bed with the Communists, the Socialists, and the Democrats.

There is no "native" Hawaiian movement. There are only rabid Anti-Americans who want all the benefits of living in this country, without the responsibilities.

I'm still in favor of imposing an old Polynesian tradition:

The losers must get in boats, and find another island.

As we run headlong down the track of emulating ancient Rome, was Clinton Tiberius Caesar or Caligula?

It really seems like the Constitution has been under an accelerated full throttle attack since Bush was elected.

What gives these lefties the impetus to do all these bad laws? Well, after the Supreme Court debacle this week, I'd have to say it's the judiciary.

Lets change the Constitution to take away lifetime appointments and term limits in the Senate.

Sheesh

What is the problem with this? Just transport them all to a reservation in Nevada. There is plenty of empty land there.

Hawaii is one of the two states that outlaws gambling, but I imagine this is a move in that direction.

Well, after the Supreme Court debacle this week, I'd have to say it's the judiciary.

Check this out. Apparently even the Founders later in life realized the danger:

--- At the establishment of our constitutions, the judiciary bodies were supposed to be the most helpless and harmless members of the government. Experience, however, soon showed in what way they were to become the most dangerous; that the insufficiency of the means provided for their removal gave them a freehold and irresponsibility in office; that their decisions, seeming to concern individual suitors only, pass silent and unheeded by the public at large; that these decisions, nevertheless, become law by precedent, sapping, by little and little, the foundations of the constitution, and working its change by construction, before any one has perceived that that invisible and helpless worm has been busily employed in consuming its substance. In truth, man is not made to be trusted for life, if secured against all liability to account.
Thomas Jefferson, letter to Monsieur A. Coray, Oct 31, 1823---

Many states didn't have gambling until the Indians got into it. A "Native" group agitating changes the rules. Then the Japanese mob can move in and open Pachinko parlors :-).

They already did, the bastards!

Some went to DC as "Democrat" senate and congresscritters.

And the rest emigrated and canoed off to New Zealand [The Land of The Long White Man!] and ate all of my Moas and most of my Moriori ancesters
[The Johnny-come-lately, immigrant, settler, indigeonous-and-Moa-eater bastards!] -- and were saved from eating themselves into extinction by only the timely arrival and intervention of Civilized Britons.

True. I hadn't been home for a while and was surprised as heck to find 4 or 5 casinos. There's not really any gambling yet in my area, but the Indian Reservations aren't too far away.

I have a couple of nice idiot Liberal (but that's redundant) cousins who think that Britain was the scourge of the earth for its colonization of so much of the world. To me, it's pretty obvious that Britain has been the single most important civilizing culture in human history, in a sense even more than the U.S. because the U.S. is a direct offspring of British ways of thought. If Britain hadn't been Britain, we'd all be living like savages.
