I've experienced 300 rads through my gut at the business end of a linear accelerator. Not once, but 10 separate times. There's nothing quite like 4 - 6 hours of barfing. At 1200 rads, you add uncontrollable diarrhea to the barfing. Lots of fun. My exposure was not a full body burden. It was carefully applied through a 4 inch shaped lead aperture. If you get 300 rads over your entire body in one shot, your goose is pretty much cooked.
