I got this as an e-mail and felt it should be put on the boards immediately. It is a fairly long read, but fascinating.

Since I live N.E. of Detroit, I wonder if my boss would want me to come in to work the next day......
I'll ask him Monday, its always best to have the answers to these types of questions before anything really happens.....

Problem with most radios is that the electromagnetic pulse from the bomb will fry the silicon. A battery powered tube radio would be nice, as well as lots of batteries because those things are battery hungry.

How is anyone going to survive when the best plan for protecting our national leaders is to run through the hallways of the buildings of our nation's capitol yelling, RUUUUUUNNNNNNNNN!'?

For all those people who think 'duck and cover' was foolish, it might not be so foolish for those living within a five mile proximity of places perceived by enemies as likely targets.

No problem. You can just duck under your desk or crouch in the hallway and you'll be safe. I learned that in public school.

I notice one thing is not mentioned...terrorist cells that will be harrassing the first responders with IED's and sniper fire, etc. And, maybe another nuclear explosion in another city.

This story is all wrong. If your as smart as Jimmy Carter, the New York Times, or Cindy Sheehan you know you must ask yourself, "Why do they hate us?" only then can you understand that the death of millions of Americans was really all our fault. Don't you dumb Red Staters know anything? Sheesh! /sarc

The best way to survive a nuke blast in that region? Simple. Be on the same phone-tree as Christopher Hitchens.
But, since you won't be on that tree, get a copy of Dean Ing's "Pulling Through" at your favorite used book emporium. Best dollar you ever spent this week.
Back to Hitchens -- click on my name to read his "Night of the Weak Knees" excerpt on my profile page.
Then, pucker.
