4 People Stabbed At Rock Concert In Tampa;1 Man Dead

Tampa,Florida (AHN)-A night of rock and metal music turned ugly very fast on early Friday morning when the metal band Corrosion of Conformity took the stage and a massive fight broke out on the floor of Club Masquerade just after Midnight.

Witnesses told a local ABC News affiliate that "I saw two guys; all of the sudden one went this way, one went that way. That's all we knew. I thought they got in a fight, and then somebody said somebody got stabbed."

Apparently the fight started when two women started pushing and shoving eachother in what was quickly becoming a mosh-pit. Witnesses said that was when people came into the middle of the fight to break it up but tempers flared and things got out of control, including a man carrying a large knife.

One man in his early 30's was fatally stabbed, another woman in her late 20's was listed in critical condition while another was listed in fair condition. Another victim was treated for lacerations from the knife at the scene.

Names of the victims have not been released due to family being notified as of early this afternoon.

Police are still looking for the suspect, who was described as a skinny man in his 30s with a shaved head, a reddish-brown mustache goatee, and last seen wearing a white tank top in the Ybor City area where the club is located.

Ybor City. Lots of bad craziness there. Gets worse every year even though they have security cameras, curfews and swarms of police.

I used to go there a few times a year for some concerts visiting friends at USF or seeing a concert in nearby St.Pete. It started going to hell around 1999.

Exactly. We moved to Sarasota in '95 when it was a sleepy, old community. We'd go up to Tampa for dinner then hit Ybor and bar hop with people our own age. It was lots of fun but we always remembered to get out before midnight.

It changed for the worst around '99. I have no idea why. We never used to see it on the Tampa news but, now, hardly a week goes by without something bad happening there.

Fortunately, Sarasota has developed a vibrant night life so we stay local.

This will sound soooooooo lame, but when the Clinton years hit full stride with high school grads who wound up at USF...that is truly when I noticed the place fill up with the worst that the state had to offer.Such a shame.Used to be a cool place to go hang out at on the weekend.

Oh, to be young, and stupid, and have no future . . . .

The suspect sounds like the runaway goat I had to catch last week.

After the Dimebag Darrell shooting,I can't believe any club allows any weapon present beyond the front door. Insanity.
