BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- A suicide bomber in a vehicle killed two U.S. Marines and left four troops unaccounted for when it exploded near their convoy in Falluja, the volatile city west of Baghdad, a U.S. military official said Friday.

Thursday night's blast wounded 13, the military said.

Some of the casualties were women, the official said. The troops were assigned to the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force.

A Marine statement confirmed two Marines were killed and listed three Marines and a sailor as "duty status whereabouts unknown."

Also from CNN. Very interesting:

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Three car bombs went off nearly simultaneously Wednesday night in a predominantly Shiite neighborhood of northwestern Baghdad, killing 18 people and wounding 46 others, police said.

The first exploded outside an office operated by Muqtada al-Sadr, the Shiite cleric whose Mahdi army militia battled coalition forces for months last year.

Al-Sadr has since joined other Shiite and Sunni representatives in seeking an end to sectarian violence.

The other two bombs detonated in front of a garage and the main entrance to the Shu'la neighborhood, a focal point of tensions between Shiites and Sunnis in Baghdad.

All three remote-controlled blasts took place within a 10-minute span around 9 p.m. (1 p.m. ET) and within a half-mile of one another, police said.

Police said the bombs were meant for civilians, because no Iraqi police or security forces, often targets of insurgents, were present.

One possibly nasty, snide bit: if you look at the film clip of men and boys surrounding the wrecked vehicle. They all put their sandals on the axle or whatever. They're smiling and lift their pant legs, and they're not showing off their nylons. I seem to recall the use of a shoe as a supreme slap in the face to authority. Remember two years ago, Iraqi's taking off their sandals and hitting Saddam's statue?

The only bright side to all this is that as long as these morons keep blowing themselves up, the process of natural selection will eventually weed them out of the gene pool.

My deepest sympathies to the families of those soldiers.

Why the hell don't we force Iraqis to carpool or get the damn cars of the street?

This war has been waged so unimaginatively on our side that it is frightening.

"Let's finish this."

Yeah, if indeed it is being fueled from Syria, as Condi and others have said - is it not time to slap the crap out of them?
If W is worrying about what the Dems would say - they couldn't say much worse than they're saying now.

TAKE ALL THE CARS OFF THE STREETS.OR FORCE EVERYONE To CARPOOL.

just means that there will be 2 suicide bombers to a car instead of one. The answer is to attack and bomb a Syrian border town on every bomb that goes off. Flush the foreign terrorist back to defend their homestate and kill them enroute!

FIRST PRAYERS FOR THE FALLEN AND MISSING!

chesty puller was quoted at the begining of the nam war,"give me the 1st,2nd,3rd and the seabees,we will start in the south and turn the whole country into a parking lot"
his son lost both legs in the politically correct fighting, chesty died of shame of what the political elite had done to our military.
the hero of the chosin who bravely led his command even surrounded said shoot anywhere boys you can't miss.

all that to say this.

get rid of the socialist scum and let our troops take the gloves off.

GODSPEED,SEMPER FI AND PLEASE LORD WATCH OVER THE TROOPS!

In many cultures, to show the sole of your shoe to someone is to say that they are below your feet.

During the elections in January, we forced are cars off the street from 3pm to 8am the following day and it was so quiet here you could hear a firing pin drop.As far as carpooling is concerned, as a gunner, I feel allot safer passing a car full of people than I would passing a single occupant car with a 20 year old driver
