Love it. Another perfect Rovian storm.
Excellent post! EXCELLENT!
So.... what's the RNC doing in response??
I for one wish that there were more black Republicans.
The Dems have, though, succeeded in turning the spotlight away from Durbin and shining it on Rove, who's not a very likable figure thanks to previous MSM demonizing.
Has McPain lost what's left of his mind? How do they censure Rove? He's not a senator. He's not an elected ANYthing. Am I assuming wrong?
Another point.
Isn't this just part of the normal political discourse?
Didn't Hillary say that Republicans wanted to destroy the country?
How is that OK, but Rove saying democrats wanted a more gentle war on terror out-of-bounds?
His comments weren't even that harsh.
That statement by Moore is, in fact, a load of crap. But it is not what Rove was referring to - Rove said therapy for the terrorists.
There's real ideas on the DU site? Where?
They have succeeded in no such thing.
What they have done is focus attention on Rove's comments. That opens up room to go on offensive and put ALL the Democrats comments under a microscope. What Rove did was not only keep Durbin in the spotlight, but bring the whole Democratic Party under that spotlight.
Maybe there is a quote somewhere about it. But the speech as a POLITICAL speech to a group of CONSERVATIVES. Those speeches always have hyperbole (like Hillary saying that conservatives were going to destroy the country, that the far-right wants to make a theocracy, etc.).
The therapy line is an apt metaphor for how many liberals describe the terrorists. I've had more than one conversation suggest that terrorists are just misguided, having legitimate grievances with us but simply lacking the ability to find the appropriate outlet.
That is easily described as wanting to put them in "therapy" rather than bury them 6 feet under.
Texascajun is pretending. McCain did not really issue such a statement. And no, Rove could not be "censured". (Note that the claim included that the other six Repubs who negotiated the judges compromise would also vote with McCain to "censure" Rove. The stuff of fantasy, but it just proves how little we trust McCain!)
Great job by Melman. Use their own words uttered and documented after 9/11 to bash them.
" "Its outrageous that the same Democrats who stood by Dick Durbins libeling of our military are now expressing faux outrage over Karl Roves statement of historical fact. George Soros, Michael Moore, MoveOn and the hard left were wrong after 9/11, just as it was wrong for Democrat leaders to stand by and remain silent after Dick Durbin made his deplorable comments.
- RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman
This was ALMOST too easy. Rove never said Democrats, he said liberals. He knew the Democrats would take the bait and then Ken Mehlman set the hook.
Now the Democrats cannot shake the well-set hook.
Game-set-match. Rove/Mehlman
Careful there, Rove never said DEMOCRATS wanted this, he merely said LIBERALS wanted it. Then all you-know-what broke loose from the Senate Democrats, as if every single solitary one of them was admitting to being a Liberal. Sheer genius by Rove.
Is this true? Is McCain really that crazy?
