Must not take very long to kick in. The Kalpoe brothers' mother said they told her N was very drunk when they were driving around. That wasn't too long after they left the club, I think.

From what I heard of the date rape drug on various crime documentaries, GHB is fast acting especially mixed with alcoholic beverages which is what GHB gets mixed up with. It'll knock the wind out of one's sails in the blink of an eye, and in some cases may even kill the person.
