I've got my tin foil hat on, too, but I don't think we should be so dismissive of this human slavery angle. It isn't terribly common, but it does exist. As awful as that is, it would be preferable to most of the other alternatives.

How I got interested in the Malinois... well, I got tired of trying to get a reliable recall on the dachsies... and we live in a rural area, and let's face it, dachsies are good for tracking wounded deer, chasing rabbits, but are a pain in the bum to train otherwise.

We needed good protection/farm dogs. I loved German Sheps 50 years ago as a child, but the American Kennel Club has ruined the breed. The only way I could get a good one was to import one, and that was way beyond our budget. I researched to find the most unspoiled breed, and found the Malinois, which some claim was the starting point got the GSD...

Knowing that I am a "homebody", I understood that I had the time, the temperment, and the intelligence to put up with the puppy Malinois stages, and would do right by the breed. These are not "yard-dogs", for you lurkers, and finding a good breeder is the first task, if you want to be taken care of by the Belgian Shepherds.

They herd well, but not by eye, and have excellent "prey-drive". (Tehy do it by heel-nipping) If there is nothing for them around to herd, you will do just fine, for in their mind, you are "herdable". My clothes from Hanna's puppy stages have patches to prove it.

Where we live in the woods, with plenty of deer, hawk, crow, fox, wild turkeys etc... our garden is never touched. Shadow's biggest task in life is to drive any and all nasty birds (like crows, owls hawk) into the next state.

They are not good combined with small breed dogs. They tend to think of them as "prey". I crate my two Malinois when our daughter comes to visit with her 9 lb. Bichon, for the lil thing looks too much like a fluffy rabbit to a good Malinois.

Took mine to a sheep farm once... even thought they had never seen sheep once in their lives, they knew instinctively what to do, and out-performed the resident Belgian Tervuurens... got to love these dogs!

Hope they are heading for Aruba tomorrow, for they can do the job!

One thing tho' I know over the years as I've been flipping through the channels I've caught the "spring break" shows on MTV ... same stuff happens .. and that's usually here in the states...

pamlet it is truly sad how low the moral compass has dropped in a number of our young people. But imho in the most part the parents are at fault. At the booty party that I mentioned I know that their were girls there 16 years old, and a few younger dress just like those on MTV. All I could think about was where are the parents, did the parents know that these young girls were out at this party, did the parents know what type of party this was and did the parents see how the girls were dressed when they left home.

Just go to www.webshots.com and do a search on the site for
Carlos n' Charlies (there are several of them - just one in Aruba though)

If PvdS is suspected in the disappearance of Natalee, does that include the disposal of a dead body? (Sorry to be so blunt.)

I don't think that theory is too 'way out there' at all. PVdS seems about that slimey to me. I do feel for Mom Vds though. She is in total anguish.

Secularism, drugs, and porn are what they worship.

Mommy VDS wants you to feel sorry for her. Her stated reason for letting Greta in with her camera yesterday was to be able to tell her story. Don't let her manipulate you.

Mommy VDS is comes across as being in deep denial, but it's hard to believe anyone can be that gullible. She and Daddy VDS both admit that Sonny skipped out of the house very late at night--on a school night even--in violation of family rules. He's hanging out in a bar while under age. No child that behaves like this is an angel. She told Natalee's mom that Sonny isn't arrogant--he's confident. Mommy VDS is enabling Sonny to the max. Also, seems to be fairly certain that Sonny has been changing the tune he's singing to the authorities--not many innocent children lie their butts off to the police.

She is a very good reporter, IMO. She asks the things we would ask.

Oh I totally agree. She is in BigTimeDenial. I still can feel her anguish though. It's hard to watch. She is probably coming to the realization that she has raised a monster.

I think there's three types of parents..

Those who are aware and truly try to set a high standard.

Those who have no clue what's going on and blindly think their kids would never do anything "wrong" but don't give their kids a strong idea of what is right and wrong.

Those who go along with it because they don't care or don't want their kids to be on the "outside"

When my now 21 year old son was a senior in a very small private Christian school we had a trauma with their school sponsored Senior Class trip. The plan was to go to Washington DC but they graduated in 2002 - so a number of parents were uncomfortable with DC after 9/11.

When we had to regroup the class was just about evenly divided... South Padre Island or a ski trip. The trip was to take place during spring break!! I was AMAZED at the parent that fought very hard for the South Padre trip.. Even with 18 kids and 5 chaps I was not comfortable with it - nor was my son .. or really any of the boys.

We went to the meeting and I was VERY proud of the guys that spoke out against the beach.. including my son. They were quite well spoken that it was not a place for kids their age to be going on a class trip from a Christian school. They ultimately ended up going skiing... but to this day am floored that some of the parents were SO encouraging that this was sort of a "right of passage" that ALL kids have to go through. Well I didn't - my husband didn't .. and now my son hasn't as well as many of his friends. So it's not something ALL kids do - but to see it on television you'd think that was the case.

Does anyone have any pics of Mariaine Croes of the Aruba Prosecutor's Office? I tried Google images but didn't find anything. Am I the only one that thinks she has that hot naughty librarian look? The pink shirt she has on tonight really works well for her.

I wished Greta would have asked why the Kalpoe children were raised by their grandmother. I realize it's touchy.

YEah, she's got that rack and the Ashlee Banfield glasses, and a haughty attitude... not that I should be having these thoughts at this time but... lets just say it makes me feel happy when she comes on the tv.
