McCain has next to zero shot at the GOP nomination, although he would fair well in a general election.
The only one who so far said he was definitely going to run on the Republican side was the Mass. Governor - Romney. McCain said he is still interested in running for president so that is why the MSM is jumping on the McCain bandwagon. So far noone else has said they will run. But it's too early yet.
Exactly, while I have a problem with McCains politics, he isnt THAT bad. What I have the biggest problem with is his character, especially about CFR and the Keating 5. A hypocrite of the worst nature.
Plus, I think he is crazy. Hillary would provide better gridlock for us and that is what I want. An inactive government.
McCain / Rice ?
It'll never happen because McInsane wouldn't get the nomination.
BUT, if it did, I'd have to take back everything I've said on FR about throwing away your vote on a third party candidate.
I will NEVER vote for McCain.
I won't vote for McCain. The Republicans had better understand THAT and stop pushing him and Giuliani on me.
Needless to say, I would not be voting for either in this election if it comes to pass.
If McCain is elected, it would be such as disaster for the GOP, it would take years to recover from it.
Russ Feingold as an independent could steal Dem votes , BIG TIME.
He is my pick for third party surprise in 08.
George Allen has my support. But he has to win his Senate race in 2006 before making another move.
This attitude is disgusting.
My worst nightmare -- McCain vs. the Beast.
How much do you want to bet that if McCain runs against Hillary, the Keating 5 will be front page news every day in the MSM. Also, McCain could never run as a Dem, too pro-life.
I'd add illegal immigration to the list (or ball a number of issues into "Homeland Security"), but your point is well taken.
I think the poll is screwy, and there will be more time and more candidates to choose from before 2008.
This is name-recognition polling results among other things. McCain will not be the Republican nominee.
But I cannot think of ANY major politician I would want LESS to be President than Ms. Clinton . . .
You're absolutely right. McCain is nowhere near my first choice (and at this point, I don't know who is my first choice), but if it's between McCain and Hillary -- it's an easy decision.
Yup, I agree. I would rather have Hillary in 08 than McCain. More gridlock, more fundraising and more idealism from Republicans.
Gee, a Zogby poll showing waning support for our policy in Iraq. I'm shocked! Shocked, I tell you!
See, it's just a matter of the boiling point. Yours is different from others, but everyone has a boiling point.
Not even if the ticket were reversed.
