Democrats are demanding that White House adviser Karl Rove immediately retract and apologize for comments that liberals responded to the Sept. 11 terrorist strikes by wanting to ``prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers.''
``The one thing New York has had since Sept. 11 is unity,'' said Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y. ``To inject politics into this and to defame a large number of people'' is outrageous, he said. ``It's not what New York and America is all about.''
Rove, Bush's chief political adviser, said in a speech Wednesday that ``liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers.'' Conservatives, he said in the speech to the New York state Conservative Party just a few miles north of Ground Zero, ``saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war.''
Rove said the Democratic Party made the mistake of calling for ``moderation and restraint'' after the terrorist attacks.
Schumer said Democrats were drafting a letter asking Rove to retract his remarks. Jim Manley, spokesman for Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., also called on President Bush to ``immediately repudiate Karl Rove's offensive and outrageous comments.''
Rove also denounced Sen. Dick Durbin's comments comparing interrogation at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp to the methods of Nazis and other repressive regimes. He said the statements have been broadcast throughout the Middle East, putting U.S. troops in greater danger. The Illinois Democrat has since apologized for the remarks.
``No more needs to be said about the motives of liberals,'' Rove said.

What else can they do to hang in? The voters will not support them. Hopefully voters will dump moderates as well. A few new judges and the door will be locked.
I hope they do it so that Rove's comments can get some good press.
LOLOL.....calling attention to Rove's truth!!!
My favorite is Al Gore on jihadunspun dot com.....

Really? Tagline....'nuff said!
...Democratic Party made the mistake of calling for ``moderation and restraint'' after the terrorist attacks.
If the quotes are accurate, both statements are completely different, and both are accurate. Schumer swallowed it hook, line, and sinker....

If Karl Rove apologizes for what he said I am through with politics period.
This may be the moment of truth. Stand up for what you said as right and DO NOT WAIVER! This will be the deciding moment for me.
I think Liberals were waiting for "something". You know how they do the Moral Equivalent thing. They are like children, it is ok to do something because someone else is doing it too so they have no responsibility.
LOL!
Rove attacks liberals and tells the truth. Dean attacks Republicans and says we all look the same and never worked an honest day in our lives. Big difference. I would not call Lieberman or his ilk "liberals" Democrats yes, liberals no and thats where the difference lies.
Sounds like these people have too much time on their hands. I keep forgetting, they don't have to work for a living.
I think I understand what you're trying to say, but, on the substance, I think you couldn't be more wrong in this case.
Rove is not "attacking" Liberals. He's telling the truth about them.
Statement #1:
"liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers.''
Is he wrong? I submit that he's dead on. The complaints now are that we haven't indicted and tried the terrorists in Guantanamo Bay. This is war. You don't indict and try prisoners in a war. In fact, indicting and trying a POW is itself a war crime.
Statement #2
Rove said the Democratic Party made the mistake of calling for ``moderation and restraint'' after the terrorist attacks.
Notice that they've carefully excerpted what Rove said. I do not take at face value that they are presenting his statement in any kind of honest context (it is the AP, after all). However, let's assume that this is an accurate portrayal of what he said.
Again, is he wrong? Is this an "attack" or an honest statement about how Liberals want to try to deal with terrorism? Isn't this part of the mantra of liberals everywhere, that we have been to mean and have only made the islamofascists hate us (which implies that they loved us before)?
Now, consider Howard Dean's recent statements:
Statement #1:
Republicans are pretty much a white Christian party.
You find that equivalent to what Rove said that is drawing fire? First, it's patently false. Ever notice the religious affiliation of the Chairman of the GOP?
Statement #2
Republicans "never made an honest living in their lives"
Again, a patently false statement. This type of vitriolic attack has become the last refuge of the official Democrat Party. Please find me an equivalent statement by a GOP party official (I include Rove in that).
Telling the truth is not "attacking."
"They all do it, so let's be nice" is the knee jerk reaction that too many Republicans have fallen into. I think it comes from 40 years in the minority, when they had to suck up to the all powerful dims in order to get anything done. Now we do it because we're afraid that the MSM will call us "mean."
We won! We are the majority. Let's stop apologizing for telling the truth and go about defeating these people instead of letting them throw out all decency in trying not only to defeat us but to insure that we die in the process.
Karl Rove for Senate!
Maybe he would have what it takes to DEMAND the
RESIGNATION or EXPULSION
of TurbanDurbin.
Tell them to shove it, Karl.
