CAIRO, Egypt -- A man listed as one of Saudi Arabia's most-wanted terror suspects has reportedly been killed in Iraq.

The claim comes Thursday in an unconfirmed Web posting by the group, al-Qaida in Iraq. It says Abdullah al-Rashoud died in a U.S. airstrike during fighting in northwest Iraq. Al-Rashoud was number 24 of Saudi Arabia's 26 most-wanted. He was one of only three listed as still at large.

The posting is signed by militant leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. It says Al-Rashoud died fighting near the border with Syria. The statement said he and his forces "killed some of the Crusaders" before the airstrikes.

The al-Qaida in Iraq statement was posted on an Islamic militant Web forum by Abu Maysara al-Iraqi, the group's media chief, who usually posts messages from the Jordanian-born al-Zarqawi.

Al-Roshoud was one of the main theologians for al-Qaida's network in Saudi Arabia, calling for a holy war against the Saudi royal family and Western interests in the Persian Gulf. He was known as the network's mufti, the authority that issues religious opinions including justifications for jihad. He studied at the Imam University in Riyadh, one of the strongholds of the Saudi radicals.

"If (the report of his death) is true, then this is another big fish that has disappeared,'' Mishari al-Dhaidi, a Saudi expert on Islamic radical groups, told The Associated Press.

At the same time, Saudi fundamentalists have played a major role in the front lines of the insurgency in Iraq, slipping into the country to join al-Zarqawi's and other groups fighting U.S. troops and their allies.

he and his forces "killed some of the Crusaders" before the airstrikes

Meaning some Iraqi women and children were raped and murdered by these cowards as sport.

Maybe he was another consultant.

Y'know, we need a big pig farm in theatre so we can feed all of the non-Iraqi terrorists that we kill to them. I bet it would stem the flow of jihadists.

I wonder if this is a new one, or the one we read about last week. In any case I like hearing about it.

If you'd like to be on or off this middle east/political ping list, please FR mail me.

Which is much better than having Saudis die flying aircraft into office buildings in the US. If we weren't in Iraq and Afghanistan, he wouldn't be, and it's probable that's what he'd be planning.
