Isn't "well-respected reporter" an oxymoron?

"My view is that we have to trust our journalists," The Age editor Andrew Jaspan said yesterday.

.. Melbourne's The Age newspaper ..

Speaking of a liberal newspaper, they are all the same everywhere.

Just reading the "Your Say" section, the melbournians (let me say some of them) are like democrats in the US. :)

This ping is in defense of published propaganda; but indeed good news for Iraq and the Coalition.

McGeough claimed in an article published in The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald that former Iraqi interim leader Iyad Allawi shot dead as many as six prisoners in June last year.

But the story was discredited by a report yesterday that Iraqi officials and US special forces bodyguards assigned to Allawi had passed lie detector tests in denying the murder allegations.

So.....even when journalists are caught fabricating stories....we're supposed to just trust them because, after all, they're journalists.

Did I get that right?

Even if the story were true and Allawi (an Iraqi) killed six terrorists why should I care. He is only doing what I think we should be doing anyway. If we find a car bomb factory or a hostage prisoner site and capture the terrorists in them they should be shot on the spot.
