Fathers For Justice is trying, although their theatrics in the UK turn some people off. But remember, attorneys get rich on this stuff. And guess the profession of most legislators.

Well, it could be, but I don't really care, other than men should support the children they produce, or in this case, spawn.

You're right about the lawyer industry. It just sucks because sometimes a good lawyer can help but most are shysters.

God never promised us that life would be fair. Your wife cheated, left, and took your child. When are you going to stop being the victim and bitter and get a hold of your life? Let go. You aren't going to get custody taken from the mom. Stop fighting with her. Forgive her. The best thing my son's father and I did was drop all the court fights and go to Coparenting Counseling. Court is not going to make things right for you. You know that!! It is only going to make you more bitter! The best thing you can do is forgive your ex wife and try and get along with her. The more you get along with her the better for your child. And I promise you, if you start doing this it may land you more time with your child. Coparenting did that for me, it got things I wanted with out having to go to court. It helps get rid of the "hate the ex" sydrome. She is not your enemy. Lay it all down and let it go is the best advice you will ever hear. Your anger will only land you farther apart from what you truly want, which is peace and more time with your child.

Why do you have this much hate?

It's not directed against women. But I am now a second class citizen of the United States. I am an indentured sevant. I was never afforded due process. My First, Second, Fourth, Fifth and Tenth Amendment rights were abrogated. I wonder why my country has abandoned me and my son.

Karma can be a bitch. Remember that. Or your ex should remember that more than you!

I didn't say your hate is at women. I have no idea where all your hate goes to, but I have a feeling most of it is towards your ex wife.

Again, you got screwed and all your rights as a parent were trampled on. It sucks! It happens every day to many of parents. So, stop fighting the system that let you down, forgive your ex wife, and get into some counseling. That is the best advice your going to get, cause telling you to fight in court more is just a waist of time, and money that could spent on your son's future.

Well said and good advice. If only more would heed this counseling, and if only the father (who experienced suicide by cop) at the Federal courthouse in Seattle had heard it the previous week.

The other advice would be for all men and women to obey the commandments, but realizing that sin occurs, owing up to the responsibility is always the right thing to do.

"Who is more trampy? A single woman sleeping around or a married man cheating on his wife? Why are you defending his actions? Because he says he's patriotic? Please."

Agreed. If this had been the fat Dixie Chick, Springsteen, or some other liberal 'singer', there'd be howls of rage, rather than this sympathy crap for Ted solely because he wraps himself in the flag.

As a committed father of 2, and a 70s rock fan to boot, I'm happy that Ted is finally paying child support, rather than being the deadbeat dad he was.

I'm happy that he's taking care of business as well. It's the right thing to do.

i think $3500 for Ted is pocket change and I see no problem with that amount. If mend don't want to be paying that much in child support or any high amount I got news for them, don't share your sperm with someone you don't want to have kids with. Otherwise, get used to shoveling out the dollars. That is how that is solved!

What about the mom? If she didn't want to have a fatherless child, why did she open her legs to Ted? Maybe because she knew she might hit the jackpot and get $42,000 a year tax free out of the deal? Calculating child support on the father's income rather than on the real costs of raising a child is clearly immoral -- all you have to do is look at the results. The woman in this case, every bit as irresponsible as Ted, gets a son plus $42,000 a year tax free. Ted, no more irresponsible than the woman, gets no son out of the deal, is out $42,000 a year, and gets no tax break.

If child support was calculated based on the costs of raising a child rather than on a percentage of the absent parent's income, you can bet your butt that there would be fewer cases like this, and a whole heck of a lot fewer women who would opt to divorce husbands who never cheated on them, never abused them, but who simply became old hat. "I need to find myself ..." is something heard often from such women, and they deserve no sympathy. If that's what they wanted, they should never have married and had kids in the first place.

Under the present system, mothers have ZERO incentive to make a marriage work, and fathers have ZERO options or influence if their wives decide to call it quits. Take the big child support $$$$ away, and the women might have second thoughts.

You can disagree but you don't have to be hostile.

Some of here have been through the divorce ringer.

No child, NO CHILD should be given such awards.

Children are expensive, esp. here in NY. Anyway, just because some lawyer screwed you doesn't mean that children don't deserve to be cared for. This is why God said 'I hate divorce'.
