Bush and the GOP will NOT get credit for this so-called humane gesture and in fact, the MSM will blather that this 'Christian gesture' is proof of W's FAILURE TO BRING THE NORTH TO THE TABLE! I know how these thugs work. It is a silly gesture but one riven with humanity. Would I have done it? NO. There is now way charities, the UN, or CARE could even deposit this food into the hands of the starving Koreans. And the North would never show our USA product statements on the goods. This is a losing gesture.
Okay...I'll take a stab at it. Perhaps we wanna get them addicted to our aid, like most countries are. Then we will own them...much like a drug pusher gives out free stuff early on. Pretty soon, he/she owns his customers through the threat of withdrawing the candy. How'd I do? [/sarc]
This all reminds me of the time when the U.S. donated all that wheat to the Soviet Union. They took and stenciled over the U.S. emblem on every sack with a U.S.S.R. emblem, I'd bet that that NK nutcase will stencil every sack with his butt-ugly likeness to show his people how concerned he is.

N. Koreans will not hear it is from the US. IN fact, what it will do is this -- even if Lil' Kim gives it to his people, he'll simply move the food rations for his people for his military instead. IN other words, he'll shift it such that his people will get the food from the US, but the original quota for his people will be moved to his military.

North Korea would unleash everything they could if we went in. They are a much bigger danger than Iraq ever was, though there might not be the terrorists like there are in Iraq. North Korea is in a very strategic area between China, Korea, Japan, and Russia so it is pretty delicate too. At least the South Korean Army would be better prepared for them than they were the first time.
