Daley fully realizes what's at stake should Durbin fall, therefore he urged, yes urged, Durbin to apologize.
Durbin is Daley's spear header in Washington to expand Chicago's O'Hare airport doubling capacity.
Without Durbin a far more logical total area solution would win.
Such solution calls for not centralizing, but involving Milwaukee's airport, Chicago's Midway, and Peotone to the South to far better meet airport needs.
Allowing for travel access and diminish raw central power plays by diversification would be a true public service.
Airport plays should not be primarily used to stem Chicago's endemic financial drain.
Imagine, doubling capacity with already congested highways. Where's this impact statement?

I believe that was Strom Thurman

My bad...correct, it was Strom Thurmond. Lott was tarred and feathered as a racist and forced to resign as majority leader because he said Thurmond would have been a good president - but yet the dummycrats seem to have no problem with former Klansman Robert Byrd in their party. Go figure.

Dickie Durbin is the poster schmuck for the Democrat Party!

I certainly hope they draw the contrsts in Illinois between Durbin's mendacious scumbagery and the Republican candidate for Senator who stepped down at the first hint of a non-scandal. Then, you have the difference between Lott and Dickie.

It is hard to understand how the dems hope to regain the support of honest people in the nation. The dems have turned into (maybe, they always were) the nastiest, most negative liars in the country, slippery folks that a normal person would prefer not being seen talking to on the street. Most of us would rather talk to a homeless person on Market Street than be seen shaking hands with a democrat.

Keep up the good work Dickie, And, for the sake of the contry in the next election, don't resign your leadership position nor resign from the Senate. We need piles of excrement like Dickie Durbin on that side of the aisle.

It is absolutely amazing...but figuring that these people have been protected from exposure by the MSM for so long, they don't/can't realize it is no longer the case. Americans now know the truth about these people, and all that is left is for them to wither away. (PS: Strom Thurmond in an address to Congress..."we are not ready to share our bathrooms, hotel rooms and restaurants with these people" (blacks) )

"..and then you need to RESIGN from the body you disgraced with your seditious and irresponsible statements that provided aid and comfort to our enemies."

It would be nice, but it is highly unlikely when even Frist lacks the stones to suggest it. In fact, Frist seems to accepted the non-apology and has said that he's looking forward to working with the "senator from Illinois" on upcoming legislation.

The lack of stones amongst the republican party is truly amazing.

Is Dick Durbin apologizing for his remarks – or for the fact that some people crossed the line? He certainly does not seem to be apologizing for thinking that American troops are Nazis/Communists. Just for being “over the line” about it.

It would be good for the Democrat’s credibility if they would remove Durbin from his leadership post. It would be even better if they found a candidate to run against him in his next primary.

When a youngster, little Dickie Durbin said to a playmate "Billy, you're a stupid jerk." Upon hearing that Mrs. Durbin said "Richard, that is not a nice thing to say. I want you to apologize right now." "Billy, I'm sorry you're a stupid jerk." Thus the die was cast.
