Please FreepMail me if you want on or off my Pro-Life Ping List.
Do you guys come from the Barney Fife school of politics?
And there is the main difference between the Democrat and Republican Parties . . . we don't "forbid" discussion. There is room for pro-life and pro-choice views within the Republican Party structure. As President Ronald Reagan always said, "If you agree with me 80% of the time, you are my friend."
Could be happening but then this could be totally wrong. When Rudy was speaking at a Catholic University - there was supposed to be a huge pro-life protest against Rudy speaking - it turned out only 2 or 3 people protested and Rudy had a standing room only crowd inside cheering him on.
If Gore were a serious pro-lifer and pledged to overturn Roe, he'd be president.
George Allen isn't pro-life. They also left off McCain, who is pro-life.
This sort of lumping all Republicans together angers me.
Who gets hurt by this? The good Republicans.
If the 46% of the House that is Democratic colludes with the 10% that is liberal-Republican, guess what? The Democrats hold sway. But then blame the Democrats and the liberal Republicans, not the Republican Party.
Oust Chafee! Oust Snowe! Oust Collins! Oust Specter! Oust McCain! Oust Voinovich! Heck, oust Santorum if he's not conservative enough for you. But this talk of "the Republicans" is foolish nonsense designed to destroy the party, and don't think it isn't.
We have Republican control of all the houses....and yet nothing is done.
George Bush is no Christian and the Republicans love the pro-life....pro abortion issue because it gives them power over the gullible Republicans who think they will do something about killing babies.
Guiliani won't get the nomination and his views on abortion are only part of the reason why. His bitter, public divorce and his 1994 endorsement of Mario Cuomo might actually hurt him more.
I'll give up on politics as a viable solution to the problems facing the USA.
The hysterical writer of this screed, (in a Catholic paper owned by the Legionnaires of Christ, an organization with problems of its own), is wringing his hands over possibilities!!
Bush is the most pro-life president this country has ever had, and has taken some difficult and heroic pro-life stances.
Yet, in this ridiculous article, his name is never mentioned.
Bump!
Five bad Republicans can scuttle every pro-life judge, no matter how many good Republicans are in support support.
If just 5 people in your church could set policy for the entire church, would you blame the pastor and church as a whole for the actions of those 5 people?
Basically, GWB has accomplished NADA (Spanish for zilch, he speaks illegal) for the country, only his foreign policy is excellent. If he does nothing that people voted him in for ASAP, he will loose the GOP majority in both houses. I see a BIG majority being disgusted and not voting.
BTW, it is not only Catholics, but also all other orthodox people who voted Republican, including Orthodox Jews.
Anybody? Not if anybody's McVain. He's a kook, and I'd rather have a crook than a kook.
What we need are Congressional GOP leaders with the testicular fortitude to stand up to the 'Rats and tell them that we are ready to go to any lengths to force up or down votes of judicial nominees in the Senate. People can try all they want to blame this on Bush, but the problem is that the GOP leadership in the Senate has been unwilling to go to the mat on this issue.
what do these pro-lifers expect is going to happen? we don't have the votes, we can't even get a UN ambassador appointed. even if Gary Bauer were elected president, he could not overturn Roe given the current political reality and makeup of the senate.
Just remember, they are sometimes allies but they aren't really friends.
People should know by now...the GOP always hurts the ones they claim to love....They always walk away from conservative principles and then want us to run to the polls to vote for them....It's getting a little worn....
