Our present policy of "War on Drugs" has brought death and destruction upon our population, not those cultivating, smuggling, and distributing the drugs. It would be shameful of me to say everyone that has died as a result of our present policies got what they deserved as too many, including our law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty, did not get what they deserved. Too many others have been good law abiding citizens murdered for no other reason than being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The toll on our good citizens has far surpassed the toll we have inflicted upon the foreigners we are supposedly at war with. If the only people have their lives destroyed were those "getting what they deserve", my opposition to our current would be very different.

Something must change. I don't see the will of the people changing, nor do I see the commitment of our leadership changing, that leaves the law that must be changed.

All too true.
