Will the Republicans we elected please stand up June 21st, 2005

I voted for our current president twice for one fundamental reason: he exhibited the unique, personal leadership characteristics, I believed our country needed the first time he ran and continues to need today. He looked at a situation, sized it up, made a decision, told you what he was going to do and then…he did it.

His propensity to deliver on promises made some inside the beltway very uncomfortable, I am sure.

As I look at where we are as a country today, I see some alarming parallels between the behavior of some elected officials during the Vietnam War and some elected officials now. Perhaps you do as well. I know that some of you served with distinction during the Vietnam War and have the awards for valor to prove it. I also know that the trauma and personal hardships you suffered did not occur only in the jungles and skies over that beleaguered country. You suffered them upon your return home to a nation horribly divided over our involvement there. Many of our citizens saw no difference between honorable, selfless service and alleged war crimes that many times were hyped and exaggerated by those among us who had agendas of their own.

These things happened a long time ago, but memories still remain. Many of us simply tucked these thoughts away and got on with our lives upon our return home. The feelings of undeserved betrayal were displaced by the realities of supporting families, earning a living and wriggling out from the enticing seduction of viewing ourselves forever as eternal victims.

To all elected Republicans: You must do the right thing. Do not allow the democrats to get away with what they are trying to do. Denounce them when they try to demonize our country. Do it loudly so that the whole country hears. This is not a trivial thing that they are trying to do.

I've just about given up on politics. I will always be a conservative, but truly, it has finally sunk in with me that there's basically nothing that separates the two parties except who gets more invites to Larry King. The complete absence of anything resembling a spinal column in the Republican party has gone a long way to proving our many years of control in Congress as one big waste of a golden opportunity we may never see again to truly advance the conservative philosophy.

Sad to say, as much as we point and shriek at the Clintons, the GOP has done little to stem the likely candidacy of Hillary in 2008. I wonder if I'm the only person who sees the stroke of genius in trotting out Howard Dean like some Zhirinovsky-Lite in order to make Hillary look like Princess Grace in comparison. We will see a much kinder, gentler, and centrist Hillary in the next few years, I guarantee you, and we will be out on our duff in 2008 if anyone like Romney is on the ticket.

You said it well. I still believe that the shadow government is responsible for the nominees that this "Two-Party Cartel" shoves at us. It's now becoming apparent that with the majority of so-called conservatives in office & no conservative agenda being implemented that the elites control the whole bunch & are getting their liberal agenda to stay the status quo. You can't get a pubbies to denounce any liberalism with a fire in their tone. You sure can hear it from the dems. Why is that? I think we all really know the answer.

Come to the conclusion that the pubbies are in a perpetual state of hiding when confronting demoncRATS. Pubbies have no backbone and when they try to have one we end with the RINO 7. Sad state of affairs! No wonder the abominable, distasteful clintoons took the White House twice.
