GWBush claims to be a Texan, yet he sits in the White House and allows his fellow Texans to struggle to protect their own homes and their families against illegal aliens, and is too cowardly to speak up about this mess.
What a guy!

Ask the paper: they printed the allegation but didn't ask for proof.
As for Lopez, he might be with the Southwest Workers Union, described here as taking part in an open borders march:

If Uncle Sugar don't handle em at the border , I'll handle em at the porch.........
BTW....I'd put more faith in a dozen retired LEO and Military "wannabes" over 200 current Troops / LEO's practicing warfare or law with PC in mind any day ......political correctness will be the end of this nation .................just my opinion of course.

"I'm afraid that W is awol on this issue."
That makes it sound like he's had nothing to say, which is far from the truth. Actually, President Bush has sided with the government of Mexico and illegal immigrants from Mexico on this issue. He's called the American citizens putting their lives on the line (literally, human trafficers murder Border Patrol agents without thinking twice) vigilantes. Under him, the USBP is pulling back to allow illegals an easier time getting into the country (agents being told by superiors to keep the numbers down). The Border Patrol has been forced to stop seeking out illegals in some areas by beurocrats responding to the requests of friends and family of illegal aliens living in the United States illegally.
In other words, we're about a half-step away from throwing a 'Welcome' mat down on the border and giving free tickets to Disneyland to everyone who jumps across illegally.
I don't generally like to be overly critical of President Bush, but this behavior disgusts and offends me. All the talk about fighting the WoT and protecting America is garbage while the borders and coasts remain unsecured. Osama bin Laden could walk into this country and we wouldn't even know it. If that isn't a disturbing situation, I don't know what is.

He's called the American citizens putting their lives on the line (literally, human trafficers murder Border Patrol agents without thinking twice) vigilantes. To be fair, he made that comment before the Minuteman operation began, and a lot of us didn't know how they planned to operate. It certainly wasn't known that the ground rules included no physical contact.
I don't think he'd make the same comment today. It turns out that the Minuteman Project (with one stupid exception by a guy who was kicked out) is equivalent to the Neighborhood Watch, except it's on the border.

"To be fair, he made that comment before the Minuteman operation began, and a lot of us didn't know how they planned to operate."
I would be perfectly willing to accept that if he publicly reversed his position on the Minuteman project. That he has not done so despite the obvious success of the project and complete lack of vigilante characteristics tells me he continues to hold the same low opinion of them.

The white house has consistently refused to retract that statement.

Che Lopez compared the volunteers at last night's rally to the Ku Klux Klan."Just basically racially profiling people. Pulling them out of their cars. Intimidating them."
Sounds like somebody's scared their gravytrain might dry up. With a name like Che you gotta wonder...

Safer by the minute?(Texas Minutemen)From your link above, I got a chuckle out of this: :-)
The group has rankled civil rights organizations including the American Civil Liberties Union and the South Texas Civil Rights project.
Good!! That just makes my day! :-)
