Personal devotion to Islam is unrelated to support for suicide bombing among Palestinian Muslims, according to the study presented May 27 at the annual meeting of the American Psychological Society in Los Angeles. But the more often Muslims attended mosques, the more likely they were to support suicide terrorism.Note to researcher; If the bomber is at the mosque a lot, first he is a muslim then he is a terrorist. We need another study on the rate of incidence of chickens coming to life after an egg is laid.

Have they done a study on the number of suicide bombers who are Muslims, vs. the number who are not?

Religion is not the only factor encouraging Palestinian rebellion against Israeli occupation or support for suicide terrorism. The main factor is Jew-hate.

What a bunch of crap! Islam, it's not just breakfast for terrorists anymore, it's their blueprint for world domination!

That's like asking for a study on the number of gun crimes committed by people who are NRA members and the number committed by those who are not.

At least 70 percent of more than 300 suicide attacks that occurred between 2000 and 2003 were carried out by religiously motivated organizations, recent research by Ginges colleague Scott Atran has shown. And the remaining 30 percent were carried out by whom?
To: Thebaddog
In contrast, communal religious devotion, measured by the frequency of Mosque attendance, was a good predictor of support for suicide terrorism, even after controlling for a wide variety of factors, including frequency of prayer, age, economic situation, gender, refugee status, and attitudes about the peace process and the formation of a Palestinian state based on Muslim law, the Sharia. Ah, what's this? Maybe the article should be re-titled. So much for TROP.

The isn't that all the muslims are terrorists but that all the terrorists are muslims
To: Thebaddog
Most terrorists are muslim. No muslims have done anything about this, just denial and whining and blaming others.

What apologist crap. I haven't seen many Methodist or Lutherans strapping dynamite to themselves and blowing up children lately.

Exactly. What's funny about this article, is that the facts in it totally contradict the title. The author is dancing on the head of a pin with his narrow definition of "personal devotion". I'm still waking up, and had to re-read the article to make sure that I was understanding it correctly.

Just what we need: another study by a psychologist who wants to tell us what we should think and how we should feel.

I don't think it's very surprising that people who are simply looking for a closer relationship with God would be less supportive of this insanity than those who are being fed "Kill the Jews" propaganda from their clerics on a regular basis.

This study is fantasy.
It must have been sponsored by comedy central.
The religion of mohamed is founded on the concept of convert or die.

The main factor is Jew-hate. I think it's really more infidel hate. How else would you explain the suicide bombings in Iraq, and right here in downtown Manhattan.

I think it's really more infidel hate. Well, of course you are right, but this particular survey was conducted among Palestinian Muslims, who walk around all the time in a red cloud of Kill Jooooz!
