Terri Schiavo's remains buried in Clearwater
Sun-Sentinel ^ | June 20, 2005 | MITCH STACY

Posted on 06/20/2005 8:40:58 PM PDT by FairOpinion

Terri Schiavo's husband buried her cremated remains in a Clearwater cemetery Monday, inscribing on her bronze grave marker that ``I kept my promise.''

David Gibbs, an attorney for the woman's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, said inscribing the marker that way was a nasty political statement by Michael Schiavo, who held the service and burial Monday before telling her family.

``Obviously, that's a real shot and another unkind act toward a grieving mom and dad,'' Gibbs said.

After earlier announcing plans to bury his wife's ashes in their native Pennsylvania, Michael Schiavo instead interred them at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater, near Tampa, his attorney, George Felos, said in a short news release Monday.

Apparently we do.

The subject is Terri Schiavo.

The discussion concerns our opinions on the entire affair. Your opinions on the legality of living wills, and on the right of people to refuse medical treatment, are clearly pertinent. Please answer the questions.

"Do we -- as a society -- respect the right of people to make their own end-of-life and medical treatment decisions?"

Please post Terri Schiavo's written, notarized living will, in which she left instructions, that she doesn't want to be kept alive with a feeding tube.

You can't? Well, then how do you know what she wanted?
How did MS know what she wanted? Why did it take him SEVEN years, AFTER Terri's collapse, AFTER he collected a million dollar award, to suddently "remember" that she "didn't want to live like that".

Please answer the above questions.

When there is no written instruction, as there wasn't in this case, should WE, as a society, decide and choose death, when we don't know what the person would have wanted?

According to the court, we do know what TS wanted -- not to be kept alive under these circumstances.

I asked you a simple and direct question which you refuse to answer. Don't demand that I answer your questions.

And according to the court, OJ is innocent too.

Please post Terri Schiavo's written, notarized living will, in which she left instructions, that she doesn't want to be kept alive with a feeding tube.

As I've posted repeatedly, Florida does not require a written living will.

You can't? Well, then how do you know what she wanted?

The testimony of her husband and other corroborating witnesses.

How did MS know what she wanted?

She told him.

Why did it take him SEVEN years, AFTER Terri's collapse, AFTER he collected a million dollar award, to suddently "remember" that she "didn't want to live like that".

It took him that long to accept that her condition really was irreversible.

I'm not talking about "telling a lie to save your child's life," which isn't relevant to this conversation and therefore is just a red herring. I'm talking about the series of lies being told on this and other threads about the medical condition of Terri Schiavo and what her husband did or didn't do.

I asked you a simple and direct question which you refuse to answer.

What question haven't I answered? Ask again, or indicate the post #, and I will answer it.

Mistakes are made by people, and judges.

This judge's biggest mistake was finding clear and convincing evidence in a case that was hotly contested.

He seems not to have a grasp of what that burden of proof means.

Could you provide a link to the direct testimony of the mother that she would keep Terri alive against her wishes.

I'm not saying she didn't say it - I have just not seen the testimony.

Even if she did say it, those could just be the words of a mother passionately wanting to keep her daughter alive.

When my father was dying of lung cancer, even though he had a living will and it was spelled out what he wanted, I was so overwrought with emotion in the last few days of his life that I questioned the living will and for awhile, wanted the doctors to keep treating him. It took a couple of days for my head to overrule my emotions and realize it was what he would want.

I was even accused by a preacher of being selfish - but that was not true. I was just overly distraught and emotional as the moment of my dad's death neared as I loved and adored my dad with all my heart and was having trouble saying goodbye.

I can understand those as comments of a woman just wanting to keep her daughter alive - possibly momentarily speaking with her heart and not her head.

I asked if a parent would fight to save their child's life and you said "I wouldn't do it by lying."

So, would you?

You know?

I tried telling her that.

Just not getting it.

Again, you missed my point; she was willing to USE what she claimed were Terri's words to force MS to let her live, but when questioned about whether she would honor Terri's wishes if she wanted to die, she said no.

How much plainer can I make it: I would certainly fight to save my child's life, but not by lying. Period.

No, it sounds like she was going to hold him to a different standard than she was willing to hold herself to.

Looking back on all the hours & days I spent reading & rereading all those court documents, hospital reports and now the autopsy...... What the h*** was I thinking??? LOL!!

You did everthing except the most important item. You never actually saw the patient. You "treated" the chart and documents. You did not bother to correlate her observed behaviors with those described in the chart or such "tools" as various diagnostic testing.

Maybe that's the kind of healthcare you would prefer for yourself. Forget the living breathing patient, just let those treat or diagnose based on the prior assessments of those who saw the patient before them. ...but maybe they were "treating" the chart too? LOL, talk about unethical.

Why do you think so few physicians commented on the medical aspects of this case while Terri was alive? THEY NEVER SAW THE PATIENT!!!

Those places were set up to specifically make fun of FR....you and your small group can try to say it is just about me....but most on FR know the truth.

Continue on.....I had now idea how obsessed you were with me......

People that love FR would NEVER go to another message board to talk about those on FR....no matter how much they disagreed with them.
