Some say the dogs were a victim of progress. Others suggest it was a test of wills, and the little dogs simply succumbed to the bigger dogs.
But many who were munching on the $1.84 hot dog and fries combo Friday night were less concerned with what killed this celebrated and scruffy little hot dog stand under the Fullerton L station than with the fact it was the last time they'd ever walk through its door.
After work. Or headed to a Cubs game. Or just to grab a quick lunch.
At age 22, Demon Dogs, of Lincoln Park, is no more.

The scumbags at the CTA cry bankrupt all year, but there is enough cash to build a bigger station. The real problem here is government once again removing someone for its own purposes. I have not had a Demon Dog since I graduated, so I won't miss it. The community will miss having a non-chain outlet around and the city gets to expand its ever widening slovenly self. I know there are a lot of people out there who are fighting domain cases and this is just another classic example of government putting its foot on the throat of the citizens. The funny thing is the press in Chicago mentioned this story as a side note and did not even mention that a mans business was taken from him and the city is near bankrupcy and building bigger EL platforms. Just business as usual in Chicago, nothing to see here move along.

At age 22, Demon Dogs, of Lincoln Park, is no more.I've never had the pleasure DemonDogs in Lincoln Park, though I have had the pleasure of Hummels dogs at Savin Rock in West Haven CT and Roesslers many years ago in Boston MA.
It's no wonder that kids (and adults) are getting fed up with gubbmint/union/special interest crap.
I'm glad I'm almost out of here. There are not many "Constitutional Rights" that will not be challenged by the marxists in our own gubbmint, not to mention the aclu.
All you younger than 54, enjoy while you can...freedom is becoming a word that may be removed from Websters soon.
FEH!

I'm more of a Gold Coast Dogs or Fluky's guy, but it irritates the hell out of me that the incompetent grifters at the CTA would do this.

I grew up around there. That's my families picture frame shop on Montana Ave. The hotdogs sucked and the owner is a gold chain wearing mobster wannabe who wired up the hot dog stand to the L-tracks and stole electricity for years. That said, it is sad to see it go.

The dogs were bad but they laid down a nice food base before going to Kelly's.
